Could have saved a few hundred $$$ by going AMD and gotten a good video card with the savings. Case is nice...

Hmm, i wish i hadn't waited til i was 16 to build mine :(

Awsome job on it!

Your using the stock CPU cooler with a 1ghz overclock!?!? i found the stock cooler was crap for overclocking, even with some decent thermal grease. I could get a decent overclock, but was getting up to like 75c to 80c, as prescotts are notorious for running very hot. You need to have that as a priority, get yourself a decent cooler, and don't skimp out on the grease. You wanna get some nice Arctic Silver 5, trust me its worth it! Also, havn't you tried lowering the vcore? I got my 640 idling at 37c @ 4ghz on a 1.3125v vcore, but i run it @ 3.85ghz w/ 1.25v vcore for general use and get 34c idle, and 48c max load.

I like the fan control panel, where'd you get it?

Anyway, have fun with it! =D

nice set up me likes :)

The CPU idles at 37, when running BF2 it gets up to 55ish. an Artic Frezzer 7 pro and Vantec cable sleving is coming next. I got the fan control from a local shop. www.canadacomputers.com , Enermax makes it.

cool, thanks.

wow, 37c idle with stock cooler... that's impressive! What's the vcore at?

is that a dvd burner?..how much does a decent everyday dont really care bout speed maybe 12x dvd burner go for anyways and i dont wish to hijack so pm me or just post 1 answer pertaining to my ?'s it is a very solid machine u have their.

Yup, thats a DVD burner! You can get a OEM dvd burner for about 40bucks at any local computer shop.... dont go to bust buy or something like that as it it about 100 there.

ok, so i think something's a foot

i know that most p4's are pretty good with the whole heat problem. but i hardly doubt that you are able to run a 1GHz overclock and still maintain a reasonable heat number. i know that many of the people that run watercooling even run just as warm as a stock heatsink when they overclock. but if you have developed a way to overclock to that extreme and still not fry your pc, then all the power to you.

The P4 prescotts are good overclockers, you can run an extemely high overclock with a very low vcore. I can get my P4 up to 4ghz (800mhz overclock) on 1.28v, which is colder that using stock voltage and clocks. To get to 4.2ghz (1ghz overclock) I have to up the vcore to 1.32v, which still stays well below 60c. Getting up to 4.4ghz (1.2ghz overclock) I have to ramp the vcore right up on mine, so the temperature is pretty hot.

But, it is possible to keep nice temperatures with an "extreme" overclock. To be honest, i don't think 1.2ghz overclock is fast enough for me!

My cooler's nothing particulaly special, my p4 idles at 34c @ 3.85ghz. So i don't understand why the prescott has such a bad rep. It can 'withstand' higher temps, but i honesty don't think it generates more heat than any other.

Infrared said it all.... not much for me to add really.....

But yea, P4s are great to overclock, as long as your mother board can support it. Infrared started off with a 3.2Ghz and i started with a 3.0Ghz CPU, They are the same chips, so really He has got a 1.4Ghz overclock where i have an 1.0Ghz overclock. Wizzard, a very respected guy on this fourms got his 3.2Ghz to a mind blowing 4.5Ghz..... it is all possable....

If by "any other" you're wrong. I'm running a 1ghz overclock idling at 23 with load at 38. Not that I'm trying to diss intels or anything, the overclocks you guys are getting are amazing.

And Clocked you have a very nice system, I started to get into custom PCs at about 13 or 14 as well.

UPDATE

Arctic Cooling ATI sliencer1 Rev2 is on it's way!!!

Sweet. I have only gotten my prescott up to 3.7 from 3.0. I thought that was high, now I know I can push it harder since my temps are still ok. Especially if I get the cooler I want.

sweet! Go for it!

on the intel heat issue in my moms comp i oc'ed the 3.2 to over 3.8 on intel hsf and value ram. no loose timings no high heat. it also was in a cabnet in the kichen. ran around 40c idle 45c load thx no no airflow but in open space it got 28c idle 32c load. better then what i get with my northwood and an xp-90. nice case man i envy you!

Umm, i think perhaps the temperature was reading incorrectly, or you live in alaska!

There is no way it's running @ 28c on the stock heatsink while overclocked to 3.8ghz. I'm running a very low vcore @ 3.85ghz with a very nice heatsink and a windy case and only just getting down to 32c in a 24c room.

The temp sensors aren't usually very far out though, so it's gonna be pretty cool even if it isn't 28c. Nice 1 ;)

it definatly could be but the cooler it came with looks a little better made the ones ive seen before. its a copper/aluminum design with a quite powerful fan. also the ambient temp is around 25 in my house

cool, it's a different cooler? Might be around 28c then... that's pretty awsome! :D

Arctic cooling ATI sliencer1 Rev2 has been put in, in less then 5 min... very starght foward! good job ARCTIC COOLING!

Now.... gota save up for an other GB of ram...

Also, new pics added

Cool! :D good job!

What cooler did you get? It should have come with a backplate passive cooler for the ram. Anyway, how much further can the core go with that lovely cooler on it? :D

it is that Arctic Cooler ATI sliencer1 Rev 2, i got ram sinks so i dont need the back plate. when up to 475/525..... lol still cant get it over 45!!! lol it ran about 65 before the cooler under full load. So yea... went up 15more on the core... so that is 50core 95 mem from stock...

Cool :D Good job!

went up an other 10 on mem, making a 475/535... i am very impressed, even with this overclock the card never gets above 50C.... before it would get to 65ish...

Yep :D

I remember my core getting up to 65c, now it rarely goes above 42c. I didn't get anything more out of the memory, but i'm not too worried about that. 560mhz is fine with me! :D

I'm looking at the x1900xt though. It's identicle to the xtx, and could easily be overclocked to the xtx speeds! The only prob is i've heard the cooler on it is very noisy. And the AC Cooler for that card doesn't exhaust the hot air, instead, it blows it directly onto the chipset... Definatly not their best cooler =/

I'm wandering how much i could sell my x800xl for. The 3dmark05 score it got is very impressive, and it has the ATI Silencer on it.
