UK Internet Users Could be Banned for Illegal Downloads

Or, if you have no problem living in the rural areas where the cost of living is easily maintained, like to be able to own guns and actually use them in self defense without being labelled a criminal, be able to just about anything you want on your own property, then come on over.

Your call.

Two sides of the same coin, buddy.

Everyone should just come to Australia :p...

On another note, there are always IP blockers/changers to solve this problem.

I'm on Virgin Media, and I swear they are remotely disconnecting my cable modem, even if just for a sec so that it has to reconnect sometimes. It usually happens on Ares and Piratebay even when I am not doing anything illegal. It did it earlier on Piratebay and I was just looking about, didn't download anything!

Well, if you're white, male, aged 18-45, Protestant, have a sizable amount of disposable income, and like constant jingoistic patriotism bombarding you from every direction, then sure -- come on over.

Otherwise, you're probably better off, trust me.

Wow this comment is just a little offensive. What's amazing is I fall in to this exact demographic and I think everyone should come over if they want. Its what make the U.S. what it is. Also if you don't like "patriotism" why don't you move to a country that has no central government or pride and see how fast you come back. If your liberal or conservative STFU and support your homeland. :nutkick:

i have to agree with you if britain does it, how long would it take for the other powers to follow suit, except russia, i cant see them doign this anytime soon

asb ive never noticed your from wisconsin:toast:

:toast:right back at yah, Kenosha, down south of Milwaukee!

Im suprised service providers havent stepped in already. Granted, Im happy they havent but I do see it happening soon

any hot female gamers are ok to come to my house to download music. really, i'm cool with it.

Being one of those that has been 'punished' by my ISP for going over their Fair Usage policy twice (they reduced my alleged 8mb connection *cough*5mb max download*cough* to 1mb/sec)

I'm disgusted they would even consider a thing like this. this is not what i payed for as a consumer - also my ISPs wont REALLY make it completely clear how much use is deemed as 'fair' in which case. my ISP says theirs is at least 50Gb a month which is peanuts. I can download 50Gb's worth of pr0n in less then an hr

I was so shocked to see this posted on a news site.

lucky for me ive got 2 wireless open hotspots which i now unload near 98% of my downloads to :P

Just come over to Australia the only thing our new government has talked about is filtering porn no biggie.

madness ... why dont the ban ppl who produce viri? ppl who make trojans? etc? but they are against piracy, one would believe everything was right with the internet except this.

just go to starbucks, pay 10 bucks for a cup of coffee, and all the downloads you want:D

I agree completely, I think its horrible that we have to invest so much money in virus protection and having to reinstall OS's. I think more should be focused on those who are destroying the internet with viruses and trojans! Thanks for pointing this out, it really is the truth

While I'm sure you think that sounds clever, you're not actually understanding what I was getting at. ;)

I completely agree with you on that one...Even with this high falluting Zone Alarm security suite I've had to re-install my OS six times last year due to infections:confused:...And thats on my gaming PC...That rig has never seen a porn site! Been to various tech sites and such..but nothing that could be counted as trolling for hookers in the back streets of Bagladesh, I don't read e-mail or anything on it anymore now because of this:(...malicious scum bags...

Trust me this is against our human rights and i will be joining the soon to be announced class action lawsuits against it.

how is downloading illegal copies of music/movies/games a human right?

no I agree, but I dont think its right that they can take your web connection because of it.

Record companies, and the governments they are pressuring, are just getting desperate. Wasn't there a news article about how one German company recently said, "Eff this, you guys can just have our stuff," and uploaded everything onto Pirate Bay?

There either has to be ridiculously dramatic action like this, which is unjust, stupid, short-sighted, and ill-conceived, or they just have to throw their hands up in the air.

Put em up! haha

Or they can't make a profit because everyone is stealing their market.

Piracy is the exact same thing as stealing a car off of a car lot, just a lot easier and with less ways to catch the theif.

The ISPs aren't terribly likely to go for this. Afterall, what's the point in having a really fast (expensive) connection when you can't download anything that may take advantage of it?

Sucks anyway, but I guess it wasn't going to last forever.
