Hmm... I didn't check that, but I get the DX10 effects anyway... maybe it says that if you don't have Vista.

The PC listed in my specs is my first desktop in about 15 yrs (been using laptops). I installed Vista 64bit in this build and have been very pleased with the results. I did have some initial heartburn: had to reinstall Vista because drivers that are native would not load. Reinstall fixed all of that, and my ram would not run at spec, had to lower it to 667 mgz. Even being a relative noob, though, I really like Vista and have upgraded one of my laptops to Vista 32bit. Personally I have not had any network issues and I have two XP32 laptops and 1 Vista 32 laptop on network with Vista 64 desktop. My wife has been using the Vista laptop and wants one for herself now. The interface is just better. Vista is only going to get better as well since MS will support it more than XP in the near future.

i'm thinking about moving to vista 64 as well. will not having 4 gigs of mem kill me?? will the peroformance still be better the xp 32bit? or at least within a comparable range??

No you will be fine, 2 gb is plenty. Of course people say 4 gb, but Vista 64 doesn't actually use all of the 4gb of ram. I've been using Vista 64 with only 2gb of Tracer ram, works great!

That's because it doesn't really work properly, 32bit is still restricted to addressing 4GB of ram. :)

I have 4GB RAM with Vista 64Bit and I regularly use over 2GB of it, I'm looking to go 8GB soon :D. Still though, it's not difficult to use over 2GB of RAM :rockout:
