Installed Games and New gfx card Question?

Hello.

I have just purchased a Sapphire HD 4870 512Mb to replace my aging X1900XT and am practically filling my pants in anticipation of the expected huge performance improvements.

Whilst I realise that proper installation requires that I remove all ATI drivers and tools b4 I fit the new card, is it a good idea to reinstall the games?

No it's not necessary to reinstall your games. In fact it will make no difference whether you reinstall them or not.

There is no need to do such thing, just put the card and install the latest drivers for it and play... enjoy ur new card :).... Stay cool.

Yep, I just upgraded to an HD 4850 from an X1900XT (it died a few days ago).

Just remove the drivers, swap out the cards, download and install the latest drivers, and start playing. :)

Cheers for that guys....silly question really, but I was thinking of the possibility of the games installing themselves around a specific piece of hardware.....a bit like how u have to reinstalle verything when u switch mobos.

Hey Mat, welcome to the forums!

My friend just replaced his X1900XT with a 4850 and he was really pleasantly suprised. I hope you get the same, I expect you will.

If you don't know already, I recommend using Driver Cleaner Pro after you've uninstalled your previous driver set. This way you're less likely to have any conflicts.

Well

Now that I have my spanking new 4870 installed in my system, Vertical Synch cannot be enabled in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and worst of all..BF2 will not load!

Why must PC gaming always be such a pain in the arse?
