Inno3D has come up with two models of the GeForce 9800 GT graphics cards with factory-fitted coolers made by Arctic Cooling and ZeroTherm. These products branded under the iChill banner use the ZeroTherm Hurricane and Arctic Cooling Accelero Twin Turbo coolers and are accordingly named Hurricane and Twin Turbo.

Both cards use identical specifications, a 700 MHz core clock with 1500 MHz shader and 2000 MHz memory clock speeds. Inno3D claims these coolers allow high-performance settings and can maintain silent operation of as low as 0.6 sone. The cards have pre-applied Arctic Cooling MX-2 thermal interface compound.

Not very good thermals IMO, an Accelero gets better than that!

Why would they make two cards exactly the same but with different cooling solutions? They only need to produce the card with the better cooling solution...

Wow the 9800GT's must get burning hot cause those look like my 4850 OC temps. Good luck OCing these if you get one ^^

I think it's a great idea

I really like that Zerotherm Nirvana Hurricane cooler. Too bad it doesnt cool as well as ACs.

So why are they slower than an 8800GT? 1500 shader is killer slow.

And those coolers are lame. Mine came with a zalman on it and stays cooler than that (and the fan is small).

How do these cards perform? Are they better then the 8800 GTX? Slower then 8800 GT?

According to Wiz's review they are absolutely identical in performance to the 8800gt.

Bah, if anyone have a bit of interest in these cards, just get the 9800GTX & be done with it. These boys are a waste of a pcb, let alone a gpu

9800GT is a 8800GT with a new name. There are 65nm and 55nm 9800GTs; you can identify (not certain, but I think so) 55nm model by looking at its hybrid sli support.

You have to factor in that a lot of sales rely on looks/presentation. Just look how well the Fatal1ty series or products have done, they are all literally rebrands but are bought like crazy because they look cool. Having two products that are identical might make the consumer buy more of their stock. (if that makes any sense) You'll see in other products that a company will release two products that are pretty much the same except that one is cheaper. The more expensive product only exists to give the buyer a sense of choice, and they end up buying one of the two because it looks/seems better than the other. (in the case of these two 9800gt's, you have "Woah this one has two fans!" and "This one has LED's!")
Hope that helped.

The 9800GT is nothing but a 10.1 twin of the 8800GT. Epic Fail.

all these stupid transformation nvidia is making and i dont understand half of what i am looking here...
it looks to me that
9800gt identical to 8800GT
9800gtx identical to 8800GTS 512 (G92)
9600gso identical to 8800GS
the way i see it only 9600GT has no twin 8000 card.
But anyway why did nvidia chose to make such a strange and wierd system of naming the videocards?

They ended up making to many revisions, like with the G92 core, which separated the 8800 GTS 512 and 8800 GTS 320/640MB. So it confused many not knowing what better then what. Then the ending letters are no help either(GTS, GT, GSO, GS, GTX), So is gives alot of people a hard time choosing a card. They also keep making the core smaller so it causes for a product update, like the 9800 GTX+ and the 9800 GTX then there the 8800's and there G92 core, this end up confusing alot of people.

Also for people who dont know much about PC's will have a even more hard time.

They wont know which is better a 8800GT or a 9600GT, a 8800 GTS 512mb(G92) or a 8800 GTS 640mb, A 9800 GTX+ or a 9800 GTX and for alot of people a 8800 GS or a 8800 GT.

They need to start just making a highend, medend and a lowend and no middle ground crap. Also change the letters that come after the card number so people who dont understand computers can easily tell what more powerful and whats not.

But i still love Nvidia and i plan to get a GTX 260 soon(or a 9800 GX2):toast:

no offense but
i'd say you spit on both GTX260 abd the 9800GX2
and wait a bit for a more logical version of 55nm of the GTX260,280..
they said its going to be in production soon.. didnt they ?

Ya, i heard they were supposed to be coming out soon. If it comes out pretty soon i will most definitely be getting one of those.

The 8800GT's stock shader is also 1500.

sorry guys but for me the inno3d is suck , im try it before many times , i think it is worst brand

But what card is sold at that speed anymore? All of them are SC or SSC stuff.

OC cards are pointless since you can save money and OC your stock one to "SSC" speeds easily

But when they're all the same price or the OC ones are cheaper...

Exactly what I did, I bought the EVGA GTX 260 stock and OC'd it to the same speeds as the Black Pearl which is £160 more!

Same with my last GFx card, bought the HIS Iceq3 3870 and flashed it to a Turbo. Saved myself £20!

Only time I would buy on OC version is if its the same or less price than a stock one.
