Hexus.net pictured the RV730 series and RV710 based reference graphics cards that will populate ATI's low-thru-mid range of products under the successful Radeon HD 4000 series. In the picture, the RV730 XT based Radeon HD 4670 is to the left in the foreground. Next to it (right), is the RV 730 Pro. The card in the center (background) is the RV710 that's passively cooled. The specifications of the RV730 cards can be read here. Little is known about RV710 at this point, except that it comes in two models, using DDR2 or GDDR3 memory and will be branded as Radeon HD 4450 and HD 4470. Here's a picture of a RV710 based card that is passively cooled this model seems to come with a DVI port along with a HDMI and DisplayPort connector.

That passive one would do wonders in a media center PC. I want benchies on that 4670 :).

With the HD4670 slated to compete with the 9500GT, I think the RV710 will just be way to weak to be any good.

Think HTPC or anyone who just needs a dicrete card but doesnt game. This is the real money maker.

4650 competes with 9500GT, 4670 goes beyond, RV710 goes here: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=69122

I know that is what it is supposed to be, but in reality the 4670 performance wise will compete with the 9500GT GDDR3 and the 4650 will go against the 9500GT GDDR2, at least that is how I am seeing it shape up to be.

I know the RV710 competes with the 9400GT, but neither really needs to exist, IMO. Basically the 9400GT is just replacing the 8500GT because nVidia wants to get everything moved away from the 8000 series by releasing the same cards in the 9000 series but one sub number down(8600 becomes 9500, 8500 becomes 9400).

But with an 8500GT going from $50, and the 8400GS going for $30, why would anyone look at these new cards if they are only looking for a descrete card to move away from onboard. Neither card will be any good for gaming.

I'm not sure what gives you that idea, the 4670 essentially looks like it'll be around the level of a 3870 but with modifications. I'm not sure how you think a 9500gt GDDR3 would stand up to 320 stream processors and a high core clock.
