In a few words, it's a political thriller based on the idea that the British should have succeeded in their invasions of Buenos Aires in 1806/07 and as a result a plot formed over many years to make that a reality, but in modern times.

Since we live under a populist government, yes, many would hate that because colonialism is anathema to them. On the other hand, Caroline is right - things could have been very different.
