1080 Ti Fe - smell?

Hi. I have Gtx 1080 Ti Fe. I bought card in march 2017. However when card is on load and when i put face to my opened case i can feel hot air and weird hot smell. My case is opened always. All protective films are removed.
Gpu temps 83-84C. Cpu temps 60C. 6700K no oc.
That hot smell is always when i run some game and card is heated. Is this normal or not? Psu is Corsair 750 RM.

Its hard to describe this smell. It not smell like burning or something. Just smelling like hot air. Any ideas?

My case is Centurion Cooler Master 590

It's usually your surrounding... the dust, for example I always pinpoint weed smokers from their HW smell too. :laugh:

Or just regular smokers. Every system that I worked on from a smoker had a distinct smell. Even individual components once you take them out...

That's because the smoke leaves a film over everything. I've had to clean multiple parts from a smoker's house that had a very thick film on them. I had to soak the heatsink in oven cleaner for a few hours, and that stuff is very aggressive. Came out looking shiny though.

nah... the green pot smells different from regular one... It leaves traces that are different on HW, I can assure you that :laugh:

Get car air freshener and drape at back, for example on psu cable not directly over an exit , nice smell.

I wouldn't really know, I don't smoke either

I just know all systems from smokers had the same distinct smell that systems from non smokers didn't have.

I don't smoke too, never did, that's the reason actually why I can distinct those things in between.

Okay on topic. One last question to the OP... are the wires OK. Check molex connectors, I had once long ago an adapter to 6pin pcie power supply, those things melt. It could be the cause, they can cause sparkling.

Under hard load it's fairly normal to have that hot electronic smell , all my PSUs pass it out including the none smoking one's, i believe it's essentially outgassing of components ie slight vapour release from coatings ,tim etc etc ,so long as you're temperatures of everything are ok it should be right.

your temps are in the high range for pascal. create a custom fan profile using msi afterburner or another popular overclocking software. this should be enough to bring the temps down.

if the card is working and doesn't smell burnt then its probably fine. i just dont let my cards run past 76c.
