SilverStone forges ahead with their latest small form factor design, the Fortress FT03. This unique example of form versus function challenges classical case design. Taking the Fortress series upwards with a stacked layout we'll see if the FT03 rises above the SFF competition.

It looks great on the outside but I still prefer the sugo 03 internals more. I feel like this case has too much wasted space inside for a SSF case, if that's what it's going for. I haven't seen it in person so I could know nothing...

Great review and great case. I have a Silverstone FT02 and I'm very happy with it :)

The only thing I dislike from the review is that:

installedmb2.JPG

It should be installed taking in account the 90º rotation. For example, my setup:

The CPU heatsink is installed taking in account this.

A little bummer there when I saw the exhaust/intake grill. So the hot air that comes out of the PSU is sucked back in by the fan above? That's weird.

The rest of the case is pretty unique, and I like unique cases.

The Exhaust of the PSU should go out the side panel that has the Vented screen for the PSU.. it shouldn't be sucked back in to above..

Great review Mlee49

:toast:

exactly as I meant: PSU exhausts through the side through the lower part of the mesh, and through the upper part of the mesh, the casefan sucks it back in again.

The side is right on the psu. you got probably about a quarter of an inch between the psu, and the side panel.. only because of the psu plug.

I now get where your going, but the fan on the side won't shouldn't be able to grab the heat of the psu, due to how they have it set up..

what could be its possible weight???

You want with everything in it? or the case it self?

My order, when I placed it the 21's of January, was for 20lb case... I believe with everything in it, with a Matx, instead of the micro... Mine is 26lbs..

The CPU heatsink is installed taking in account this.

That was the only way the heatsink could fit on the board with the ram layout. I wanted to show a super large heatsink can fit.

Since the case alone is 6.7 kg (about 15 lbs) I'd say your looking at roughly 25 lbs fully loaded.

Aaaah, thanks for the info :toast:

So big tower heatsinks doesn't fit correctly :p

I wouldn't say "any";)
I know in my setup, and the motherboard CPU socket location matters too, but my polaris was very close to the support bar.

It's all about the old tech huh.. Mix it with new stuff, and you get your crazy measurements.. lol.. Nah, I shouldn't say Any.. Most.. how's that?

Its all good, I just know with my P45 m-ATX the D-14 would have had issues;)

I have this case, with a full blown system in it, rather than the light one used in this review.

i2500k, asus p8p67-m pro, corsair vengeance 2x4gb, strider 850w gold, with pp05 short cable, corsair h70 water cooler, powercolor hd6870x2 in crossfire, 2 x ocz vertex 1 in raid0, wd 2tb black.

all in this small case, i love it.

i documented my build on my facebook album and can answer any questions.

you can find the photos and comments here... just click thru to my facebook album.

only thing that i changed since this build was, i replaced the twin 80mm noctua fans with a 120mm scythe s-flex 1600rpm, since the crossfire were running hotter than i would like.

Personally I'm more interested in the power supply than the case, I hate the looks but the rv03 is a great case internally. and I'm think about getting the 850 or 1000w version of this but i cant find many good reviews for it. may just get the hcp850 but its not fully modular

I reckon id rather have the sg07 than this i like the ft seires looks but not super fussed on the internal layout. perhaps the will make a newer ft02 with the rv03 layout.

Personally I hate the fact that the Rv02 was a copy of the Ft02.. In my eyes.. Rv03 is their Rv02...
But, that's my personal opinion on how they did it..

I will say that Silverstone's ST-p 1000w is one hell of a small baby. So, I can't see how their "gold Edition" wouldn't be the same..

That is a pretty sweet case. I would love to build a little, powerful rig in an FT-03.

I want one of these badly but I am not sure I am willing to step down to a mATX setup yet.

It was the whole reason I made a HTPC... didn't have a case I liked til I saw that. :rockout:
