there are forums for the eco friendly, do me a favor, don't disgust me and many other tpu browser's with your tree hugging bullshit. if you don't need 1600 watts, then don't buy it, some people actually could use it, i could replace half the psu's in my network server's with these and actually save a bit of money and save some of your precious f*cking tree's. So why don't you take that tree and shove it up your own ass. thanks \wristkthx

well sorry if i was a bit harsh, but i mean comeon, that's a poor statement coming from somebody who's got a 900Mhz p2 in his right, obviously he doesn't need anything more then 50watt pos psu to run his right at a max oc. jesus, since when did tpu or any other forum involving technology become a home for wildlife activists, i mean if someone put up a post about a new piece of software that could isolate the human fetus in a chick who got knocked up within days of getting knocked up so they could "stop" the pregnancy, i wouldn't be jumping all over people because computer's help improve the efficiency and effectivness of abortions, and i am very against abortions, it's technology, leave it at that, it evolves, grows, in the case of psu's becomes the topic of an absurd number lol 1600 watts, i could power two computers with that with ease, but the topic of the post was not how do you think the ultra 1600 watt power supply will effect global warming and will it not only cause us to cut down more trees, but it might also feed radiation into our youth's developing minds causing retardation and physical deformities. no it said nothing about that, it was simply a topic for the product in question and it's "technological" feats, thats all. the reason i was so harsh is although by the looks of my post count i haven't been the largest contributor to the forums, i came here for help and most of my questions were either already in another post, or i asked them. but i browse daily and take pride in being part of a place where people might not know me but they know me by my handle, and they comment on the rig's i build and give feedback on the various questions asked and topics brought up, but when people start bitching about other stuff that has no place in a tech forum it makes me wish the mods would be that much more strict because it takes away from the unbiased technical opinion of the item and that sux... ok my 2 cents is in, i'm sorry if anybody was offended. i do appreciate all the help i've recieved over the last couple years from the faithful members of tpu, i am proud to be a part of this community

Ok, whoever thinks that this is an ecofriendly powersupply needs a tree jamming up there ass just for being damn ignorant. This is getting kind of silly, i mean i couldnt see the most current high end system needing this much power.

Yeah, FYI - if your rig doesn't use it the PSU doesn't produce it. It's not a "toaster".
Psu's only consume the amount of power necessary according to the power drawn(pulled) by the computer.

What about this one
Sneak Peak - Ultra Products 2000W ATX Power Supply
http://legitreviews.com/article/436/1/

I was actually just about to meantion that Ultra has a 2KW PSU...

And for reference that PSU would run upwards of 50HDDs.

If someone could load one of those thigns it would be interesting to see if most house breakers could take it... i heard rumors that there is issues with the 2KW units blowing house breakers...

That kind of power is overkill any way you look at it, even the most powerfull system on the market would be happy with a 700Watt PSU...

i didn't say don't be concerned about the environment, i said don't come out with that verbally abusive post about it. he basically said everybody who buys one needs a tree shoved up their ass. for that, i'm going to buy 2 and when i find that 2kw one i'm gonna buy one of those. it's not even that harmful for the environment, it puts off no cfc's, greenhouse gases, or anything else. And i completely support turning off lights and pc's when not using them, although i usually leave my computer on 24/7 for the support of cancer cures. so i'm doing my part for something, but i don't believe i deserve a tree up my ass. thank you very much

My uncle uses a 700 watt power supply. Although 1600 watts is crazy.
Uhh the pentium II 900MHz guy is a troll? Pentium II's don't go that high??

has anybody noticed how it says AC 13A @ 115V ? that's 1495 W (13A * 115V). which is clearly less than the 1600W the PSU states.

To be correct it should have at least 16.4 amps (= 1600W / 0.85% efficiency / 115V)

anybody in the us of a got a good laywer to sue ultra?

That is actually a good point.

Output > Input on that thing.

I would never buy an Ultra PSU anyways.

If you're going that high on the power scale, its PC Power and cooling or bust IMO.

Did they say "retardedly?" Is that even a word?

Well, fact is, if you don't need 1600W than this PSU isn't any less green than most others. Remember, a PSU only puts out what's needed of it. Judging by the "efficiency curve" on Ultra's site, this thing wouldn't use any more than a typical 500W PSU if your load was only 200 to 300W. :D
