Playing against hackers and cheaters in multiplayer games is rarely fun, so now Rockstar is showing them just how it feels. It's hit upon a cruel and unusual punishment for cheaters in Max Payne 3's multiplayer: forcing them to play in a "Cheaters Pool" filled only with other hoodlums. "Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a 'Cheaters Pool', where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants," Rockstar explains in a blog post. They'll also be cut from the leaderboards. Rockstar could deign to allow these rapscallions to rejoin civilised society, but will permaban them for a second infraction. Lets hope that one day all online games will adopt such measures.

Yay! Finally! If people want to cheat, let them. Just do it with other cheaters. Cheats can be fun but only if everyone is doing it.

Nice. But will require management time and effort. I hope it works... and they invest the resources to run the system well and fairly. I can see it being a can of worm. Watching with interest...

I can imagine some guy in there talking about how he doesn't deserve this. He isn't smart enough to hack. He wouldn't even know where to begin. Every word he says is pitiful. Then he wins because he had the best hack...

Let the best hack win!

Multiplayer cheats are for lame ppl.

Not bad... though did they have to cut them from the leaderboard? How do you know if you're the best cheater?

id like to see some type of permanent scarlet letter adorned on there character

I hope this works well. I would love to see something like this in BF3.

best solutions for cheaters ever

let them get frustrated with other cheaters

can't even complain now

That's pretty innovative...I like it.

so its like the rooms on halo pc full of nothing but cheaters, that was fun.

Yes! Kharma is a bitch. Multi-player cheaters suck, and now they can all suck together.

LOLz!

The cheaters would need a separate leader board, like the best of the worst. Though, this would encourage the cheaters.

A server filled with nothing but cheaters...lol Welcome to hell gentlemen! :D
Ha ha just wow

I'd hope for all online games to be impossible to cheat in.
Just like there is no such thing as a truly secure network, there is no such thing as an uncheatable game.

If it relies on community reporting then there could be an issue. People will report people for being a hack just because you kill them. That is how they view the cheating. Anyone better than them is one which means, pretty much everyone.

Sprayed a guy in the face last night with a P90 in BF3, happen to get a headshot. Next moment hes crying over chat about me being a hacker. Not the first time I've had that. Just learn not to argue with the children so I said,"thank you for the kind compliment." Then he went off and started crying about camping when he charged over and over into our advancing frontline. Sigh...kids.

I voted no. I like Valve's method for Steam. If you are caught cheating, your account is banned from that game.

The game is meant to be played one way as created by the developers. If you don't like I don't think you should play. If you are going to cheat, I think you should be banned.

alot of people I know who hack on steam don't get banned actually I know no one who has been vac banned . . . . . . . especially in L4D1 and 2

My cousin was banned and had to rebuy the Counter-Strike 1.6. If you hack enough in a VAC server, you will eventually be caught.

Cheating in a video game is full of fail. I've had miracle moments in games before. One that sticks out the most is in BFBC2 I was running around, heard something behind me turned and accidentally hit my mouse button. One shotted Kurgan with a sniper rifle. Fugger was trying to get my dog tag. He didn't get close to me for the rest of the match. He just killed me from a distance.

I've never been accused of cheating though.

That's awesome. My miracle moment was in HLDM (yeah...a long time ago) where I was doing so good one of the other players in the match asked what hack I was using because it had to be better than his...since I was beating him and all.

...have rarely felt prouder than that.

But back on topic! This is an interesting idea that I hope pans out. If it turns out to work as intended, I say more companies should adopt it.
