Great, fuck over the cheaters - I'm all for it. I imagine spectating such games would be entertaining, too.

Something tells me that the "cheaters pool servers" would be pretty empty.

I agree. They'll simply stop playing or more likely find a way round the system and carry on taking the piss out of legitimate players. This could just be a bit of grandstanding by Rockstar to make it look like they're "doing something" about this problem and getting extra publicity in the process.

This is really stupid. I plat APB Reloaded all the time, and all you need to do to solve the cheater problem is to have a active GM in the game all the time or most of the time. But another problem, GM's some of them are not only lazy but also ignorant, because they won't ban just anyone, its a money issue. Most of the cheaters in APB pay G1 money, so G1 won't ban just anyone.

Not sure if Max Payne 3 has premium options, but if they do, pretty sure the same will apply.

Premium Battlefield 3 players are being banned... not sure what's wrong with banning paying players from other games... If they cheat then they are cheaters and deserve to lose the ability to play that game.

I voted yes. I used to hate when people would use cheats in the UT series. I got so fed up with it that I just stopped playing online.

How they are gong to monitor and verify a cheater is my only issue.

Excellent idea though.
It would be nice to see which country produces the most multiplayer cheaters too.

According to the poll there are 5% of cheaters

Actually there are currently 4% cheaters and 7% who were thinking of joining the cult...

Sync saved files ? there are also lot of other ideas to trace ...

Brilliant! I hope this idea catches on with more games.

Also technically this method makes the game fair for both the legit players and the cheaters!

WIN WIN!

Looks fun, Also I hope they don't ban them completely, just ban them from the leaderboards and other experience breaking stuffs(from the non-cheaters point of view) but still let them play.

let the cheaters play with cheaters. Because of this I might want to join the cheaters club myself lol, IF they would decide not to ban them and just have their own separate servers/games.

One problem: How to detect cheaters?

Reasonable step forward

It's a reasonable step forward but personally I feel they should have to pay a re-activation fee. First off they would be wasting server resources for the rest of the legit population and this would be a way to account for that expense.

I think it would be nice to have a game that monitors behavioral/maturity statistics. I for one have been called a hacker a lot over the years that I have been playing games. I stopped playing BF3 for a couple months and came back to play this week, not even 15minutes into the game passed and I was called a hacker. Of course this was one of the people that complained about every possible thing that happened to them. I would like a way for games to track each players maturity level and flag childish behavior. It would be nice to be able to play in a server with out someone say BS, hacker, etc. Maybe they track keywords or phases that a user uses in a game and the frequency in which they use them. Obviously there are a lot of complications they would have to figure out and it is easier said than done, but this is what I hope for.

Playing against hackers and cheaters in multiplayer games is rarely fun, so now Rockstar is showing them just how it feels. It's hit upon a cruel and unusual punishment for cheaters in Max Payne 3's multiplayer: forcing them to play in a "Cheaters Pool" filled only with other hoodlums. "Anyone found to have used hacked saves, modded games, or other exploits to gain an unfair advantage in Max Payne 3 Multiplayer, or to circumvent the leaderboards will be quarantined from all other players into a 'Cheaters Pool', where they'll only be able to compete in multiplayer matches with other confirmed miscreants," Rockstar explains in a blog post. They'll also be cut from the leaderboards. Rockstar could deign to allow these rapscallions to rejoin civilised society, but will permaban them for a second infraction. Lets hope that one day all online games will adopt such measures.

Awesome , I f'n <3 this and I love how much you little ragers hate it...

The idea sounds nice but we all know it .... there is nothing as good as a permban.

I think it would be great if they allowed you to voluntarily enter the cheater pool just to mess around. And then let you switch back over to regular servers after disabling the cheats. A server full of cheaters that you know can get pretty entertaining.

When I helped run a BFBC2 server, we would have nights where we set the server to private for our clan, turn off all ranking, and we would all enable cheats to let the lols ensue. Granted, it was mostly for testing purposes to see what tells the cheats had so we could catch people cheating on our server on a normal night, but it was fun and funny none the less.

Ahhhh, good times.

i think i saw a couple of servers like this in CSS, if you change your filters to servers without the vacban, you can pull servers like this up on the menu. im not sure if they apply to those who have been vac banned or to everyone in general.

Just to let you know, this is one of the reasons a shed-load of players from multiple games that uses PB got banned. PB managed to ban a few thousand players for using (or having ever used) ArtificialAiming; a very elusive cheat that has remained undetected in APB for over 9 months.

OT from Max Payne I know, but I saw convo about mass bannings recently - this is just one of the reasons.
