  • The forums have been upgraded with support for dark mode. By default it will follow the setting on your system/browser. You may override it by scrolling to the end of the page and clicking the gears icon.

2024 and STILL no dark mode?

I will do it, not exactly sure about how you'll implement it, I assume a cookie and a little js to read/set cookie and a toggle in html for users that lurk without an account, and an account setting instead of cookie for others?
Looks like XenForo will have some kind of "template variants" feature for dark mode. We'll know more in a few weeks

Before Rark Reader I've written custom CSS and used Greasemonkey to apply that CSS and make DOM changes for websites I frequented and didn't like the look or layout of.
Then you are our guy :)

Sounds good I'll play with it this weekend hopefully.

No. It's mental disorders who force bright modes:
• Brighter displays consume more energy than darker ones.
• Brighter displays require more ambient lighting than darker ones, meaning you have your lights brighter indoors, meaning you spend more earth's resources.
• Leaving your clientelle no option is by definition a malicious doing.

Also all these extensions and plug-ins are just dirty hacks. Every reasonable person doesn't feast on dirty hacks if possible. You smashing OP with "just enable Dark Reader" are not helping them. It's plain toxicity.

Hope I could help W1zz to make it work. Unfortunately, I dunno how to code.
I use my monitors Reader option to tamp down the bright whites and makes all day reading possible. I wonder if OP has the same option on their monitor.

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I have something related to share, and someone might find it useful.

Since Dark Reader is not an option for me anymore, I was in search for an alternative. It's slowing down almost all webpages considerably, not just by loading, but also scrolling.
So for all Firefox users out there that share the same sentiment:

It's much faster, open source and fully customizable. Cheers.

Looks interesting. Will have to get it a test.

EDIT: Update, currently using it. It's got a few quirks, but not bad. Need to play with it some more.

Try 50 inches of UHD TPU in all of its glory

Problem is that I don't have any time to work on this .. any volunteers that know how HTML/CSS/colors work and are willing to help?

Maybe I could create a new forum theme template for dark mode and update it iteratively based on community feedback
Omg yes, please, but for the main site mostly, not just the forums.

Dark Reader unfortunately isn't the solution people here like to claim it is.

New XenForo is out, now I just need to find a week to migrate and update our custom plugins

This is definitely not happening this month (due to Zen 5 coming out)

The current Xenforo rocks. Don't feel rushed. TPU still kicks ass! It can wait for an update.

No update on this yet, new XenForo is out, but I haven't had time yet .. and next months will be busy with GPU launches from NV and AMD

Use dark reader extension. Bam! Done.
I use mobile chromium based browser without extensions.
NVM! Brave has Night Mode which is just dark Reader in the browser
