Do you need the latest and greatest X470 motherboard to seize the performance potential of the newly refreshed AMD Ryzen processor line? ASRock doesn't think so and is out to prove it with this exceptionally inexpensive B350 Micro ATX board.

One thing I noticed, you were trying to OC with memory in slots 1 and 3... big no-no on this board. Need to be in slots 2 and 4.

Adding: great review of a small unsung hero of a mobo! I have 4 of them running in the house currently. 3 for my kids and one in my own system. Rock solid on all 4.

P4.5 Bios do not let users change the DRAM frequency?
My P3.3 bios do let me change DRAM frequency and voltage.

Please revisit this review article
"Cinebench CPU test"
There's no way a 2600X can get over 2000pts, and make sure all data are correct. e.g "Bioshock Infinite frame rate variation"

Oh wait, why do you have Z270, Z370, X299?? What were the system specs with those test systems?

*And just to point out, on my AB350M Pro4 one of the Fan headers do not support Fan speed tuning.

3466 CL14 done on that board.

I must say it's a great board but as long as you're content with a few lackluster features and capabilities
(ryzen 1700 user here)

Everything should be done in AMD CBS on this board, asrock's bios overclocking is horrible at best.
Thus overclocking takes a lot of time on this board, a lot.
The bios isn't missing anything per se but it's not like a x370 gigabyte\asus board where everything is a few clicks away, but they just put in some few oc features and leave the rest up to amd cbs settings.

2nd is that the VRM is a 3 phase dumb doubled and it shows, I set a target of 1.3V and 1.22V is what the cpu gets (@3900mhz) and 3950 I set a target of 1.375 or so and I think it had 1.27v to the cpu.

Otherwise I love the little cheap board and I would just wish that two m2's(one sata and one M2) and this layout could be used on a little bit more premium motherboards.

It's dirt cheap but it did exceed my expectations, I have an asus B350M-A too which is in the same price class, real 4 phase with better regulation and no cooler(I later installed vrm cooler) but this board did memory OC and cpu oc better somehow with that horrible vrm.
On top of that the layout is better but a bios that doesn't really feel all that great.

I'm using this cheap board in my server together with a 1700 non-x. Very good for the price. I like Asrock. Might use AsRock in my desktop for my next build.

I'd expect a B450 version of this board soon..

using one of these boards right now. works great and you can see my specs on the left.

A somewhat decent board for those who wanna build a cheap Ryzen powered PC.

Wow, a lot of you have this board. I was thinking about buying it since I am shopping mobos for the 2600x that I'm about to buy, but the reviews on both Newegg (ofcourse) and Amazon aren't good at all.

Great little board. I have run my 1700 at 3.8 since I built the rig almost a year ago / turns 1 on the 17th. Never an issue - just runs. My build thread on mine (need to add the kids machines to it as well) Project Evolv

If you can spend a bit more, you might want to go for other other more expensive board. "TUF B350" might be a good choice with 6 SATA connectors in a much better placement.

The design and placement of the 4 SATA ports on AB350m pro4 are not ideal. Due to the thickness of the sata heads. Sometimes stacking two Sata cables on top of each other will push the other SATA at an angle and resulting in one of the ports not working.

And sadly only two fan ports can have speed control. One PWM, one Voltage control, one always on high (you can get extra voltage controller for it if you want).

The internal USB ports do not provide enough power for my front USB3 ports on my case (BitFenix Prodigy M). Resulting in only one usb3 front port have enough power and one can only power on low power devices such as mouse and keyboard.

But it does have an RGB header!

Overclock CPU and RAM quite well. (voltage control incremental step to the RAM and CPU is not refined. e.g RAM voltage increment: 1.2v, 1.25v, 1.3v. 1.35v. only.
