Yeah.. youl be able to RMA that thing.. problem is, IF they still have GTX280..

most of the time, whenever a certain stock is out, they replace it with something better (a gtx285 perhaps). Happens all the time (and was very evident during G92 8800GTS.. I know a couple of people purposely bios flash failing the card and get a shiny new 9800GTX after).

in anycase, the overheating must be maybe from a warped board.. contact of gpu to sink might not be perfect anymore. Last user may have used 3rd party cooler to do so..

btw my GTX 280 is doing 72 celcs on RedFaction load...

My 260 did the same at one point, under 100% fan in games like XSS and TF2 my GPU temperature would rocket into the 90's. I tried re applying TIM (used MX-2) 5+ times? Anyway none of that worked, I deemed the stock cooler ineffective and got myself an AC Accelero GTX280 Xtreme cooler :D
If i thought it would work i would put it under water but i think something is wrong with the board itself.

Yep they have always in my experience asked for one and to me i never had a issue giving them one.

Yet another reason to shop Newegg as they save them for ever lol.
I shop Newegg too, but when you buy second hand from these forums its kinda hard to get a reciept unless the seller is as awesome as DD.

According to what they are saying i doubt they will RMA it for me. They are being a receipt Natzi right now which is why before all i bought was XFX. Fried board, wrongfully flashed bios, volt mods, they dont care they replace it under their awesometastic warranty.

The previous owners OCed the shit outa it and used a water block on it. Im almost certain it damaged the card and he sold it to me that way. Lets just HOPE they replace it.

so did I pp, but now I know that the cooler was defective - my AC keeps my 260, idle @50% fan around 25 degrees, load never goes above 40.

If its board warpage though replacing the cooler (shelling out extra cash) wouldnt fix the problem i would think. Ill find out soon though because my 3rd 280 will be coming soon and i will try the cooler off of it.

Would it be worth it to try the waterblock?

Its worth trying anything rather than buying a new card, if its cheaper go for it.

Well i dont wanna buy a new card, thats why i want to RMA  (I traded straight up a case for my old 280 back and a bunch of WC gear) So if i get this thing working ill have 3 280s and will be looking at a FTW 200. Or an extremely badass PhysX card that wont get touched except by Vantage.

I was thinking the board can't warp with stock cooler, but if it was water cooled before then yes.

Anyways the cards I've read about all shoot to 100C+ in under a minute. If it takes longer to overheat, then there could be hope :)

What do you get for the VRM temps (all of them)?. The first one shows 65C that seems too low. Others seem about what I got with stock cooler. Maybe the 1st voltage phase has taken a hit on the previous overclocks, if it was not under a full block. Those things get toasty. Could it affect core temp? Don't know, just guessing, but hope you get it working somehow.

Depends.. on water, the thing wont go over 50 degree on furmark burn test (temperature would be lower since Im living in a hot and humid place). But even if youd hit that temp, but the OC yield of the card is crap, you might as well go for a thermalright or accelero extreme for the GT200..

Also, you would probably have to change your pump and rad though.. (forgot the maximum wattage for the swifty 2x120.. but im pretty sure your cpu temps would be effd' when you add the gpu in your current loop.)
