Apple today announced the second generation iPod nano. Here what's new:
  • double the capacity, same old price (now 2, 4, 8GB)
  • brighter display
  • longer battery life: up to 24 hours
  • The colors of the iPod Mini are back
  • metal casing, just like the iPod Mini
Update: Right after the presentation the Apple iPod Nano website was updated as well.

So this isn't the 2G nano it's the 3G iPod mini...

The original Nano looked so much nicer, and you can't get a true white nano anymore, not impressed by that. As for the 8GB space, I like that... not going to buy one though, sticking with what I have. And this is even thinner than the original, it'll snap like a twig if they make it any thinnner!

Orignal nano "looked nice" but the design sucked. Terribly. Scratched to hell, and any useful case covered the "looks" up anyways.

Aswell, however, I much prefer the aluminum casing.. I have a green 6gb mini that I absolutely LOVE, and plan on getting a Nano or an aluminum shuffle now that its AL aswell..

Better colors for the nano is a plus, aswell... The clammed up video/nano is very prone to problems... my bro had quite a few til he got one that was prefect...

all I can say is YAYYY!!! :respect:

I have a sony 6GB and I am playing with the thought of grabbing a 2G nano with 4GB as well...selling my Sony.

tempting tempting...would be my first apple ware...

cheers

I'm sure you'd love them as much as everyone else does.. esp since these wont scratch like crazy now :D

I would most definatly reccomend a case-- especially a nice iskin though. worth the $$ to protect it.

If you get a scratch prone one make sure you get a nice case, I started out with a belkin case for my Ipod video (all they had at the store when I bought it), and it helped scratch up my screen since the ipod was not 100% covered up dust got in.

Also dont buy those plastic stick on "screen protectors" I got some bubbles in it as had as I tried not to, than when I took it off it left a film on that was imposable to 100% remove, and scrached up my screen fairly bad using a lcd cleaning cloth to clean/remove it :S.

My bro left his plastic that came with it on it... works GREAT!!!!

However, I strongly suggest an iskin.

Best cases for the $$. PERIOD. Use a few compared to cheapas cases, and you'll understand why. Very very quickly.

imho, its fugly.

i agree that the 1g nano looked MUCH better. i can't stand the fruity colors and weird rounded edges of the mini or the new nano. grah. i guess i'm more of the industrial design type.

btw, i heard you can use cd cleaning solution (the scratch removing stuff) to get the scratches out. supposted to work like a charm on all but the deepest scratches.

yeah I just "invested", into a iskin grabed it up on sale for $10 off.

I used mp3 doctor its seposed to patch scratches, but dident work to well I did it over and over :P.

I wish they had the iskin in stock, before I went on vacation when I got this thing :S ohwell I hardy ever notice the scratches. :)

yeah I snagged an ipod mini Iskin @ goodwill for $5.

God that store pwnz!

I'm not too bothered about my scratches now, my 4GB nano still looks sweet and people won't want to steal it as much at college if it's not perfect. The metal casing is the only thing I like about these new ones.

I wish aplle would of put a fm reciever on the shuffle... I could use the radio sometimes. ohwell I will prob just buy a mini radio sometime and continue using my ipod video

That one pic of the iPods reminds of the Power Rangers
