Hello all. Since Black Friday I have been using a Samsung 32 inch television as my computer monitor. The exact model of this television is LN32D403. My resolution is clear as day but sort of large. A friend of mine pointed it out to me. I have an nvidia card so I was fooling around with the nvidia settings and cannot figure out a good resolution for this. Every time I get to something that somewhat fits on the screen all of my font is unreadable, or very close to it.

Since Nvidia has an option in the program to mess with the size of the screen by dragging the edges I tried that. Success, however I couldn't read the font. Windows has an option to adjust the fun both in size and in other smaller aspects so it is easier to read. I tried to up the size but that just put me back at what I had before, a large looking resolution. So then I messed with the text sharpening helper in windows and that did some good but not too much at all.

Ideas? Thanks all.

That's a 720p TV, if you're using that on a PC it might be 1360x768 or 1366x768.

Just get a proper monitor. That res is FAR too low for a 32" panel.

HD ready TV sets have native resolution of 720p but when connected to PC can allow up to 1080p resolution but the picture would never be as sharp as on native fullhd 1080p TV.

You need to run that TV at its native resolution to get a clear picture. It's just the same as on any monitor.

The Samsung model you listed is a 720p model, which means its native resolution is 1280x720. That's a pretty low resolution for a display of that size, and quite a bit less than your typical 1920x1080 22" monitor. You can likely feed it a 1920x1080 resolution, but the display won't be nearly as sharp as a native 1080p display.

I have the exact same LCD and the exact same GTS450.

Native resolution is 1360x768, The Samsung is detected by NV CP, set to native resolution. First I connected with VGA and then HDMI. Both work flawlesly, outstanding image clarity. So I don't understand what's "large resolution" and why were you messing with NV settings?

I think his friend told him saying that he is feeding a resolution higher than 720p to the TV. At least that's what I get by "large resolution".

Yes, but the NV driver recognizes the TV and it's native resolution. The TV's resolution might be considered 720p but that's for TV broadcast, when I switch to TV on another HDMI port the TV sets the resolution to 1280x720 but it's native is 1360x768. You just have to select it there in NV CP and you're set.

just run at 720p with it looking large. you didnt get a 1080p screen, so this is what you get.

Thanks guys. It wasn't ever a problem really i was just wondering if i was missing something ha

my GF has a 19" HDTV that seems to have no native res. no matter what i do its always blurry, which sucks as we wanted it for a PC screen as well. sometimes they just dont do what they should.
