AMD is looking to introduce the Ryzen 7 9700F 8-core/16-thread processor to target a price-point well under $300, possibly around $250. Naming convention dictates that the processor will lack integrated graphics. Given that AMD hasn't released 65 W variants of its Ryzen 9000 series "Granite Ridge" processors, instead giving the 9700X a 65 W TDP out of the box, but with a motherboard BIOS-based "105 W mode" that improves boost frequency residency, the 9700F will likely have either the same or slightly lower clock speeds than the 9700X, a 65 W TDP, and likely even lack this "105 W mode." The idea for AMD would be to offer a decent alternative to the Core Ultra 5 245K.

The Ryzen 7 9700F will be based on the "Granite Ridge" MCM, with one 4 nm CCD that has eight "Zen 5" CPU cores, each with 1 MB of dedicated L2 cache, and sharing a 32 MB on-die L3 cache. The 9700X comes with 3.80 GHz base frequency that boosts up to 5.50 GHz, so the 9700F either sticks with these clock speeds with a 65 W power limit to offer performance resembling the 9700X out of the box, or a 100 MHz lower boost frequency out of the box, but with unlocked multipliers.

As always late to the party. This would have been a nice option when I upgraded and decided I'll rather just wait it out to AM6. Because the AM5 processors are all way overpriced for what you get. This should not be more than 250$ from start go.

AMD is smart. I would have bought something cheaper if it would have been available. AMD offers the better choices much later.
in my case ryzen 7500f, 7600 and 7400f

AMD always bring the nice and interesting processors and graphic cards quite late.
AMD for the last few years has had more interesting products in terms of the ''budget'' (big airquotes) market as of lately. I actually seriously considering grabbing a 7400F or 7500F purely for the cool factor of owning such a novel yet simple little CPU despite not having a real use for it. And the only interesting fact about the 7500F is really the price at the end of the day. 7900 GRE is probably one of my favorite GPU's of the last 3 generations, simply because of how quaint it is, and for a cool price. Plus its got some neat history behind it.

NVIDIA continues to become a bit more boring in that regard as they (and AMD, though to a lesser extent atleast on the CPU side which NVIDIA doesnt have yet) have basically abandoned the utlra low budget market as a whole. Maybe we'll get a variant of the RTX 5050 thats like the RTX 3050 6GB (hopefully with a more fitting name if its on a different die)

EDIT: internet exploded for a hour before I could respond. FML

After having an old gpu die in a system with no igpu during covid my only choice to was a 2GB GT1030 for $130 or an RX6600 for $900 was the next cheapest card. With the 5050 set for $250usd I don’t think I will ever go without an igpu again.

Nothing worse than a gpu dying outside of warranty and not having a spare or igpu and being out of a computer and having to shell out some coin for even the weakest entry card.

I guess the iGPU is physically there, but not efficient enough so it's disabled (+ possibly laser cut). AMD is introducing this model with a delay because first it has to secure enough of these IOD chiplets with disabled iGPU and then they can release the new F model. (the only ZEN5 without iGPU?)

I love the 65W TDP Ryzens. All of them, including the 105W models operating in the 65W class. Necessarily paired with fast DRAM.

7400/7500F are incredible budget options and stepping stones for future drop-in CPU upgrades (assuming AMD keeps their AM5 support promise) but it's easy to forget that there are no official retail channels for it.
This 9700F isn't looking exactly "budget" but it's probably still a great option for budget-conscious buyers that don't need the X3D gaming uplift.

If it will be priced at 300EUR at max, I may finally consider AM5.

It's disabled, I mean it would be insane to design and manufacture a different CPU die just for those ones without iGPU. Just like the Intel F SKUs (and most Xeons).
