I only run Linux machines. Most run Fedora, currently Fedora 20 64 bit.

I have been given a 4 post USB hub with a Ethernet LAN interface. Has any one any idea how to get it working on a Linux box?. I have seen it working on a windows machine. It has an IP address, that can be changed using the Windows software that can with it. Using the windows software you can also see each USB port and what is connected to when the USB devices are plugged in.

I have a number of USB Hard drives with data on them and it would be great if I can have then plugged into this device and then assess then from any machine on the network.

For those interested the device in question is from Jaycar Electronics Australia Cat No.YN8406 4 port USB Network Server. There are similar devices on the WEB including Ebay

Has anyone got it working in a linux network? I can ping the IP address but the linux machines can not see the USB ports or what is connected to the USB ports

any other info you can give us? do they go by any other name?

I wannt help you by locating the chipset maker liek reltek, ateros, broadcomm, ralink, etc....

oh, its one of those network servers. i have one and gave up on it a long time ago - they dont work at all without the proprietary software, if none was provided for linux it simply wont work.

well if you happen to find out the actual chipset maker you can get thier drivers

its not drivers - the device is a miniature server, and you need software to connect to the device, which translates it to act like a local USB device.

in my experience with such devices they had crappy software that could only be logged in by one machine at a time, and you'd have a lot of problems if more than one user tried accessing it at a time.

meh that sucks :(

There are no other markings on the box or the device itself. It is made in China, like everything these days. I pulled the PCB out of the housing. There are three chips
13F-39NL,
GL805G with markings HH1GD08G22 and 41SR77941 and the last one
EST E1868M4-B with other markings 30FFL-1G and P7NT6-01011058

The PCB has the marking EUS168H4 V1.1. There is no manufacturers name that I can see.

Do not know if that helps

Thanks

Found a couple the same physically under the name LogiLink and KONIG

There are three chips on the PCB inside.
13F-39NL
GL850G with markings HHIGDO8G22 and 041SR77941
EST E1868M4-B with markings 30FFLiG and P7NT6-010 1105

The underside of the PCB is marked EUS-168H4 V1.1

Apart from the box being marked "Made in China", like so many things these days there is no manufacturers name. The title on teh Box is
"4 Port USB Network Server"

Hope this helps to perhaps identify it

Thanks
