this i find odd, i got my 4090 to use 220watts in games which fully utilize my gpu (great), but then it wont get any lower at other games when they only are at 50% gpu usage.
it worked better on my 3080 i had.
i was under the impression, when i have higher fps than monitor refresh rate 144 in my case, and i have 142fps cap in rivatuner or 140 fps cap if the games have it. and gsync compatible monitor.

Can you post some screenshots with a Rivatuner overlay?

The GPU should be near 400w when fully utilized and around 200w at 50%.

like i said, i got it down to 220watts from 400watts that is stock.
but either way going from 100% usage to 50% usage should not be same watts usage? if you check your gpu and usage in games. are you seeing watts and usage linked in some way?

98% usage near 400w

capped to 50% usage 244w.

It would be helpful for people trying to figure out what's going on with your system if you post screenshots with an overlay.

If you modified the card to only use 220w and you load it 50% it should still use all 220w you've set it to be able to use.

Considering the GPU uses 450watts normally, 220 is pretty good.

I think this is what he is talking about he has limited the card to 220w and is wondering why at 50% usage it still uses 220w,

4090 limited to 50% power near full usage vs 50% usage just as an example to show what I think he is talking about. Ding ding ding it uses almost the same amount of power.

this should show you the stats you need.
and i know what is happening, no need to ding ding it.
but i was sure this was only happening on my 4090 and not in previous gpu's
so can anyone else check this behavior with 4090 and older generation gpu's please.
and are there other ways to tweak the gpu in afterburner so lighter games running at 50% usage uses less power than my full power which is set to 50% power limit or about 220watts in my case.
