Fit, what MB are you running that you can run 3 ati cards in them, i have been doing some research and found that only ati boards will run 3 slots pci16 v2.0?

all the intel boards with 3 slots, the 3rd slot goes to 8x v1.0 and takes the second slot down to that same thing 8x, so you end up running 16x 8x 8x for tri fire.

still nice stuff

There is almost no difference at all between 16x and 8x. If you'd like I can find a link to a forum post showing that.

Final Thoughts

This is really a very interesting article and is something people need to be taking note of. The first thing you need to be checking is if you're reading a review where Crossfire is being tested. Make sure that the board there using is a x16 / x16 motherboard. The results really do speak for themselves and it’s clear that there is a performance difference between a x16 / x16 configuration which the X48 offers, and the x8/x8 one on the P45.

FTW

i tested ...

2x 3870x2's

on a

Asus P5E3 DLX (x38)

and

Asus P5Q3 DLX (P45)

my results were of little difference between the 2 boards at stock and even at overclocked.

some times the x38 was faster and sometimes the p45 was faster.

And its also clear that the results from the page I linked it yield no improvements. But thats fine, if you want to waste your money on a chipset that allows the "better" x16 width over a x8 width then be my guest. However I wish you were a bit dumber so I could get you to mail me that money instead.

I also couldnt read the damn site. Tweaktown is worthless. I kept getting this message. LOL

So yea, that site can jog on.

yea what is with you, you said post something different but you want to keep kissing fit to get his VT's go ahead

I use 3870s and dont intend on upgrading to the 4k series. Im not here to kiss anyone's ass. I posted some information and you brought back some info from some cheap ass site that wont allow people with an addblocker to view. I think thats a bit on the lame side.
