5070ti or 9070xt?

9060 16GB(XTX?) and vanilla 9070 are clear winners of their bracket, but I'm going with green machine on this one

For me a 50% upgrade makes it worth it, especially as my 6800xt while a solid card really struggles with Ark Ascended at 1440p. Definitely can't wait for Q3 2026 for the next amd/nvidia releases. As it is I've waited 6 months for prices to stabilise and get slightly sensible here in the UK. But I am tempted to hold for another 3 months to see if the higher end 9070XT models and 5070ti mid range models come down in price.

RX 9070 XT is a stop gap, you better wait for the new generation with a fixed architecture. You are about to upgrade not 50%, but 100% or even 150%.
You can adjust the settings in Ark Ascended, if you run it maxed out with enabled 8x AA, forget it.

i mean yeah if you can feel the difference with 50%, then sure go ahead :) the thing with gpu prices coming you need to catch it early on . 6 months to go until new releases... thats when they drop i believe and after that they wont stock much more of the high end models because most places dont want to keep inventory. i'd buy it soon so that you get the most out of your purchase

670GBP = 900$...shudder. I know there's extra VAT in UK of course, but even so... I wouldn't pay more than 750, max 800$ (whatever that is in GBP).

I think from this angle, a basic 5070Ti is a better deal.

Both of which are more than $900, equally shuddering for crappy low end models.

Not really. Firstly, if the 5070Ti and 9070XT are on par price wise, the Nvidia really wins. Secondly, the low-end models aren't really "crappy". They just lack some fancy doodahs like RGB lights, you'll maybe get lower OC (minuscule differences in fps gains) or "better" cooling - but cooling I had was always great anyway, so... Mind you, I refer here to Nvidia's low end models because I had a few of them in the last decade or so. Perhaps with AMD you really need to spend bit more to get better (quieter!) cooling, I don't know. But then it erases its main (only?) advantage, which is the price...

Anyway, it's your money, your call :)

Decided to pull the trigger on the XFX Mercury 9070xt for ÂŁ670 including taxes, which is ÂŁ100 over msrp here in UK but still cheaper than the cheapest 5070ti here which is ÂŁ699. XFX have a 3 year warranty on the card and 5 years on the fans. The warranty closed the deal for me.

Enjoy! Mang post up some pics of your pc when you install it :)

I went AMD this time since I got fed-up of crocodile man acting like a snake oil salesman for a few years now. 5070 = 4090 performance? b***h please.
What did you get?

I had a basic 9070XT earlier this year, had to return it due to it getting too hot. Pondered getting another one but prices went mad, eventually got a basic 5070 Ti a month ago.

If you say that you "don't use upscaling" and are not that worried about noise, then perhaps AMD is better choice, if you can get it ~100$ cheaper. For me, DLSS is a big deal, hence I leaned towards Nvidia, but if you game in 1440p only then 9070XT should handle most games ok. Another issue for me was noise, the 9070XT was super loud even at 60% fan, while I can barely hear my 5070Ti even under 100% loads.
which 9070XT did you get?

What did you get?
Asrock 9070XT OC Taichi launch. I would have gotten either the Red Devil or Nitro+ but they weren't available during that time. my only minor complaint is that I didn't win the silicon lottery. only generally stable at -65mv for better power efficiency and cooler operation but nothing really of real concern since the clockspeed can max at around 3.4Ghz which is more than it's advertised max clockspeed at 3.1Ghz. performance compared with other Asrock 9070XT OC Taichi is around the TOP 20 range, so not bad.

which 9070XT did you get?
He had Gigabyte Gaming OC, see here:

Installed, runs cool and quiet. Happy boy.

my opinion:
9070XT because NVidia doesn't deserve it. but for the same price the 5070 Ti is objectively better.
i have two 9070XTs and no Blackwell GPU.

As a long (and maybe too long exclusive nVidia user), I would now purchase RX 9070XT over RTX 5070 Ti hands down. I would and will totally skip 5000 nV series.

And AMD does

for the same price obviously the 5070ti, doesn't even deserve discussion

AMD deserves it more than nvidia does, given how much a mess the 50 series has been.
As for pricing, in the US the 9070XT can be had much cheaper than the 5070Ti.

in europe it's the same, i wonder if the OP doesn't have shitty google search skills

i am neutral to AMD but very negative towards NVidia.
neither one "deserves" my money, but i am very much done with NVidia for a plethora of reasons.
no matter the 50 cent cost savings that would prevent melting power connectors, 5060 Tis sold as a 5080, extremely broken drivers, still mediocre linux support, general anti consumer behaviour and the most important thing for me personally: not dumping my money towards a full monopoly.

OP already decided on a 9070XT, and still cheaper than the 5070Ti there if you've seen their post.
I've always bought Nvidia cards but I decided against giving them money anymore with the 40 series, too many reasons but they don't deserve any money from me. And with the 50 series Nvidia has had too many driver issues, no hotspot sensor, and that garbage power connector. I know people like to say its "user error" or they never have problems yet news keeps coming up on burnt or melted 12vhpwr, not the case with 8 pin molex.

i don't care for either, i haven't upgraded, i don't want to give money to either
the connector is shit but with 3 year warranty, it either dies in that time and it's their problem or it should be fine. The same with the hotspot. I live in the EU, so i just send it to the store and that's it.
the drivers are shit, i never discount people's problems as "it's fine for me", and as someone that went through hell with AMD with exactly that, not sure that would make any difference to me

the major issue is pricing, amd and nvidia's pricing.
