Following failed talks with Take-Two's management, games developer Electronic Arts has instead decided to directly approach shareholders with its takeover bid. EA has kept its offer at $26 per share, which would give the deal a total value of around $2 billion. EA's CEO, John Riccitiello, said:
This is a great opportunity for Take-Two shareholders. We believe Take-Two investors will see our tender offer as the best way to maximize the value of their investment in Take-Two. This tender offer provides a clear process to complete the proposed transaction. For EA shareholders, the combination would add additional intellectual properties to our already strong portfolio and welcome Take-Two's talented creative teams to the great development organization we've built at EA.
Take-Two has issued a notice to all of its shareholders urging them not to accept the offer, but EA has set a deadline of 11th April - two weeks before the release of the eagerly awaited Grand Theft Auto IV.

In other news, Jack Thompson has been in talks with game publishers, in a bid to take down Take-Two, and their murder-simulators along with it. Although no games publishers have been named directly, EA is rumoured to be working with him.
Jack Thompson may believe that his actions could see the Grand Theft Auto franchise being ruined by EA's clumsy hands, which have ruined countless game franchises with stupid in-game advertisement, along with nonsensical and unnecesarry crap shovelled in.

Ah, EA is trying to ruin GTA, while cashing in on the latest release. Well, actually, let's just hope if they do buy Take-Two, they don't meddle much.

**** off EA! How about fixing the glitches in your own games before you want to take over more?

Well, it's up to the people that own shares in Take Two. If you want your voice to really be heard on this matter buy Take Two stock now!

If I knew how the stock would be affected, by EA's bid to take over, and especially if they then took over, I'd probably buy some Take-Two stock... I love getting money without doing any work to get it.

What better way to get rid of the competition... buy them than ruin them.

EA makes it too obvious though that thats what they do, intentional or not. They have a reputation for ruining things. That plan works if you do it without consumers noticing.

Bad thing about hostile take-overs in this business, is that the IP has got "legs". Quite easy for the management team to leave and set up another company.

We sit here bashing on EA, but at the same time, I see a 'United State of America vs. Electronic Arts' coming soon. Monopolies are bad. ;)

EA has some good devs that make good games but sadly most of them are crap. EA owns DICE and Valve, two great game devs :)

Now they will mess up another company...

EA does not own Valve.

EA is only the distributor of the retail versions of Valve Corporation's software. The DO NOT own Valve Corporation.

over the past couple of years ea have changed, thru the people running it and the way they opperate. now im sure i will get a bashing for saying it but you cant knock them for their buisness model as it clearly works. they have been behhind some great game and im sure will buy the rights to them all over time.

just wait till they do a microsoft and bring out their own console for their games and then they wont release them on any other format.

Not yet. Not that they'll waste time with them though. :p

But seriously, EA should get its act together and let the developers do their thing without interference. Almost all games they pump out nowadays are incredibly boring and repetitive, especially when you consider the massive resources they have behind them. Come on EA, you can do a lot better! :shadedshu

Everyone can whine but until everyone stops buying EA games then nothing will ever happen. EA will keep buying up the companies that we like. So for all this talk here and other forums is just useless.

See, I REALLY hate EA now. This is what they do, any game which sorta is under their expectation, they dont provide updates for, or provide shitty half arsed updates with shittily thrown together content.

Example need for speed pro street

Sure, it was unpopular a tiny bit thanks to several bugs which pissed people off a heck of a lot.
Now the 1.1 patch, didnt really do much except add several tracks, and two cars.... And they claimed to add every car to the game through this.

Nice? No. Moreover the 30 FPS frame cap really pissed people off. And yet many of the glitches/bugs are still in the game havent been fixed at 1.1-the bloody obvious ones.

EA Ruined a good idea. This is what greed does. In terms of games, its not that bad, but if they were dealing with something else :shadedshu

People hate EA, I hate EA. But if we dont draw the line and stop buying EA games or games with the EA label on them then this will never stop.

I know this will be hard for everyone to do but if you see a game published or made by EA then put some mind control on yourself and no matter how much you want to buy it DONT.

This year everyone needs to NOT buy Mercenaries 2
This year everyone needs to NOT buy Spore
This year everyone needs to NOT buy Army of Two
This year everyone needs to NOT buy any of the sports games like Madden, NBA, and NCAA
This year everyone needs to NOT buy Dices soon to be awesome game Battlefield: Bad Company

I know this is hard people but if we dont draw the line by not buying great games published by EA then we will start to lose the great games we are still getting from other companies and publishers its only a matter of time before we lose all the independent developers. It wouldnt surprise me if Id Software gets offered some money too, soon.

I don't understand the hype behind Army of Two, I played it and I just don't like the game. I've heard so many people call it the best game ever, I have to disagree. :banghead:

Right now, the only EA games I buy are from EA Westwood and EA Mythic and Rockband.

I think I can agree with that first statement Ravenas.
Although the second statement still funds the Trojan Horse that is EA.

anyone remember back when EA was a really good publisher?

I guess all good things must come to an end . . .

:banghead: Wont someone sue them into ashes already, Microsoft gets its arse handed to them when they do shit like this where are all the antitrust crusaders when a truly inferior company like shitstain EA try to muscle in :banghead:
