6600 XT Poor Image Quality

Hello I recently built a system with GPU: 6600 XT CPU:Ryzen 7 3700 x RAM:16 GB DDR4 SKill ripjaws PSU: RM750 x corsair MOBO: B 550 TOMAHWAK MSI. Ever since I built it the image I get on my screen ( 1080 p 144 HZ IPS MSI, I have obviously change it to 144 HZ in settings and set the correct resoluton) is not sharp and the colors are not as bright as they should be. In games models look blurry and the animations and gameplay do not feel smooth despite having high fps. I have tested the monitor with my laptop (basic work laptop) and it is way smoother and the image is clearer. I have tried Vsync on and off as well as freesync and off and the issue persists. I have tried installing the new drivers and even used DDU. I even did a full windows OS reset and a CMOS batery reset and the issue persists. Thermals are fien aswell. The fps perfrormance in games and stress tests show the results as they should be for the GPU. Hardware wise I have tried reseating the GPU and even tried the bottom PCIE slot, tried an HDMI and a Displayport cable and still get the same issue. It is most likely a GPU issue but before replacing it I want to be sure it is the factor that is causing this (unsharp image and not smooth animation indicate GPU problem) or perhaps another part of my PC can be causing this. If you have any suggestions or fixes for this issue please let me know. Have a nice day!

pump the saturation in amd control panel. Not sure about the smoothness -- what laptop GPU do you have?

It's not a hardware/heat issue at all so I wouldn't really waste time there -- most likely a software issue.

Truning on saturation makes the screen brighter but colors appear even worse. Unfortunatelly that is not the solution.

Here in this image for example you can see that the edges on the face on the top left are completely unsharp.

ah i see it...

do you have scaling enabled? Image scaling? can you turn it off (do not scale image / let panel decide).

Are your Windows appearance options right? (Control Panel -> System and Security -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Advanced tab -> Performance settings / Adjust for best appearance)

Yes they are correct
Hmm... I'm not sure, then.

By the way, I checked that little "man icon" in Control Panel. It looks about the same on my PC, which I think is kind of normal. So instead of trying to find faults with your current PC, I'd try to find why the image with your laptop looks different. Maybe some display scaling or sharpening setting is enabled that you didn't know about.

Thanks for the reply. Any ideas on what scaling issues could be causing this windows is set to native resolution 1080 p (100% recommended)

As far as I can think from the top of my head, everything seems OK. I'd rather look for settings that are different on your laptop now.

Does it look like this at 60Hz? Or is it fine at 60Hz and then looks like crap at high refresh?

Are you using HDMI? what cable is the PC connected to the monitor with?

make sure you turn all the processing bullshit off on the monitor its self
msi monitor suck donkey duck out of the box

Same issue on 60 Hz , I am currently using a Displayport cable but I had the same issue with an HDMI cable

Have you messed around with the monitor settings? Perhaps doing a reset of the monitor and starting fresh might be a a good start I know a few years ago sold a monitor I thought looked fantastic but the customer messaged me about it be very blurry and terrible. He later messaged me after reseting the monitor it was fine
Also it might pay to see if RTings.con has reviewed it as they usually have great settings to work off of to get the best out your monitor.

The monitor is fine, I have tried another monitor and had the same issue
Have you had a chance to check display/scaling settings on your laptop? I still don't see anything wrong with the picture you uploaded. Jagged edges along the little man icon in the Windows user settings are normal - especially since the squares along the icon correspond to the pixels on your monitor. What I'm guessing is that the laptop has got some display scaling setting enabled that your desktop hasn't.

Maybe the image of the windows user is not the best example. It is blurry overall not only there and the gamign experience is really poor (not smoth, bad image quality despite high fps)

Here is a screenshot of me playing fortnite. On the left the gpu clock and watt usage are very low. maybe someone can can read those stats better. The fps is also ver low ( this is perfromance mode)

Look at this under60 fps in performance mode!

From both those pics your GPU isn’t even really clocking up, not sure why because I have no experience with Fortnite to know what to expect.

its 1080p its not going to be sharp
not on any display >24in

I'd have thought the power used should have been way more than that, it looks more like only from the PCI-E slot or something. Have you tried another power cable?

Do your scores in stuff like 3D Mark reflect what other users get?

Also, your screenshots are 100% perfectly sharp and in focus (for screen elements that are not anti-aliased).
Take this shadow on the health and energy bars, for example - it's pixel-perfect:
