ok, heres the deal... i am running a Q6600 on my evga 680i A1 board...
it ran stable for about 3 weeks @ 3.6ghz NO PROBLEM and passed 48hr orthos test and all games played nicely.

NOW it IS NOT stable @3.6ghz and IS stable @3.5ghz. same voltages and everything.

vcore is set to 1.5v in bios but reads 1.46v (also in bios) there is NO vdroop at all.
ram is run linked/sync and was @800mhz when the cpu was at 3.6ghz but is now running slower. i DO have 4 sticks of ram and have compensated by upping the voltage to 1.9v. any higher seems to cause it to run slower(IE:lower benchmark scores)

i DON'T get ANY BSOD at all. the computer simply reboots like if i hit the reset button. no lockups either.

DON"T tell me it's the power supply either.... im running the BIG DADDY Enermax galaxy DXX 1000watt, and i have tried all 3 of them.(yes i have 3, sorry)

is there ANY suggestions why this is running so weird?

What are you doing when it happens?

What are you doing when it happens?

it's completely random. sometimes in a game, sometimes at idle with nothing running. only happens like once or twice a day.

nope... and temps are LOW. cpu is 23c idle and 34c load. everything else is around 38c except video cards that run 39c idle and 50c load.

You sure it's not a BSOD? Did you double check to make sure Windows is set to not reboot after a BSOD?

i read about that in EVGA's forum and already disabled the auto restart on error thing. still no BSOD. screen goes black and board posts like i hit the reset switch.

What are your ram timings? And what are they rated for?

800mhz 1.8v 5-5-5-18(sucks, i know) i have everything @stock settings except voltage which is set to 1.9v due to 4x1gig sticks. like i said before...any higher and the system gets slower and is less stable.

Hmmm, is it warmer in your computer area now? Perhaps the chipset is running warm?

Hmm,. Well, I'm kinda at a loss. Maybe try bumping the volts up one notch on the cpu?

i DO have to crank up the NB voltage to get the machine stable. it's at 1.7v. i though that was because of the power draw of my 2x ultras. STILL, the temps are pretty low when compared to other's. 41c on the NB

Yeah, but each chip is different. Maybe 1.5V real will do it?

Well hey, Even if it goes into the 40's, that's still damn good for a quad.

yeah, but, it's all thanks to my $400 cpu cooler. i was gonna go water to cool the video cards too, but no one will help me figure out what i need.

Same things you would need to cool a cpu, except substitute a cpu block for gpu blocks.

So, pump, res, rad, 2x gpu blocks, tubing, clamps.

yeah, i know that, but, i've been told i need a 240rad for cpu, and a 240rad for EACH 8800ultra. that's 3x 2x120 rads. that's far too much to put anywhere around my case.

ALSO... i want it ALL to fit inside a case, and not some full tower POS monster case.
i want to get a lian li pc-v1200b which has ample room for a 4x120rad and a 1x120 rad out back.

Nah, one 240 or 360 rad will cool your ultras. Especially if you spring for a top quality one, like a Thermochill PA series, or DangerDen GTX.

Just wanna say that I'm also having the same issues with my system radomly rebooting. I'm running a Q6600 G0 at 3.40GHz @ 1511MHz on a Striker Extreme mobo. Passed Orthos and Prime95 24-hour stress test also. I have the FSB & Memory Unlinked, VCore: 1.5V, Mem: 2.22V, NB: 1.45V, SB: 1.6V on BIOS 1305. I've also read that my mobo overclocks better on BIOS 1303 but that's only for C2D's. I'm totally stumped on this one, so I lowered my clock speeds back to stock at 2.40GHz @ 1066MHz, with everything set to auto, and now my system is stable again. If anyone could figure out what the problem could be, can you please post it up on this thread?

BE THANKFUL YOU MADE IT THAT FAR!!!!!!!!
the striker extreme sucks for quads. i've had 3 and all have sucked. MANY others have had the same problems. same problem as the old evga tr/ar boards. get the new a1 or t1 evga board... trust me.... you'll never regret it!!!
i have got my q6600 stable enough to bench and run overnight on orthos @ 4.2ghz, just too hot and not 24/7 stable.
