6900XT Toxic hitting 91C in Warzone 2.0

Again, that's normal temps

Yeah I wouldn't want a GPU either that runs 87 degrees C with the fans at 100%...

Hope you can find a better one.

Hi,
Clearly a thermal defect.
If they give you any slack tell them you'll report appropriate agencies for global warming prevention protest

It should have a warranty but it honestly just sounds like the Thermal Paste has spent it's life. It could have been a mining card that was not tuned properly. Replacing it and the thermal pads may be necessary and the easiest solution.

yep something seems off with that gpu, that is too hot imo.

i have yet to see above 62 celsius on my 6800 xt, hot spot will hit 89 max. im happy with 62 core, thats pretty dang cold for a gpu maxed out.

what voltage is that thing running? mine would do 99C at hotspot temp.
playing with voltage and custom fan curve the hotspot temps are less than 90C. which to me is quite good.

If you post max results on GPUZ it will be clearer. Just tab to max, not current or average.

Just run a stress test in adrenalin

So it's the junction temp that is being reported in CoD? If it is, then I'm slightly more at ease. I've got 90 days anyway to return it if I have to, so I might as well ramp the shit out of it and enjoy myself.

Yes, CoD reports Junction temp

You can check reviews of this particular brand/model GPU and compare..

Also I see you have a case for good cooling and it's still running that hot, and it's not even Summer!!
Personally I would return it asap, it's just running too hot imo...

So those temps

The normal temp is reporting at 76C, which is fine. Yeah I'll do that now, good thinking Batman.

Modern GPUs run hot, they run at the edge out of the box. Same with CPUs. The common knowledge of 10 years ago no longer applies. I mean sure you can cool stuff to max out at 70C, but that requires a lot of cooling and/or downvolting/clocking.

Which you should have before buying ...But ok.. :D

A GPU just over 60C GPU temp at around 21C ambient is acceptable imo...
And they are there.

You've bought a factory overclocked ~400W TDP air-cooled card and the problem is where? The power/heat has got to go somewhere. Route some cold air on fans' intake. :)

1.175v is a lot for 2538 core. I have a 6800xt and have the curve set at 1.075v for similar clocks.

6900XT has default voltage of 1.175v, nothing abnormal or "a lot". Whether a GPU should be undervolted is up to the user to decide, but it's not necessary.
Not to mention 6800XT and 6900XT have different V/F curves.

Yeah I should of done that first but I'm normally backwards...

It's hitting 31 at idle so I think this is just normal behaviour.

Pavle, you have a good point my man. I'm just paranoid due to it not being normal to me.

I suppose you could try undervolting it, in steps of some 32mV...

P.S.: I think that temperature is nothing to be scared of, think of all these years that we didn't have hotspot readout, why, I remember my Radeon X1900XTX (or was it XT) dying because of excessive heat, but not the chip, no, the VRM part. I think it could still work, but I had 3 so...

Op wants lower temps, logical to tweak the curve. My suspicion is 1.175v at 2500 ish reduces the performance of the card.

Will hit the power limit well below the max achievable clocks and high temps are the secondary result of that.

Obviously they set 1.175v stock to ensure stability of even the worst silicon, at the cost of much higher power and temps than almost anyone actually need...

Of course, but tweaking the curve necessitates a stability test to ensure the undervolt won't crash. Not to mention most undervolts reguire installing MorePowerTool since capping the voltage in the driver isn't as effective ie. it's only a "suggestion" and the driver can allow voltage that it thinks the card needs despite user input.
I don't think OP wants to do any of that based on his posts.

I am n00b... Just want to play the bloody thing, lol.

Weird, with ambient room temp at ~24C, and having adjust the fan setting/curve to a more aggressive custom one on Adrenalin control panel, my Nitro+ RX 6900 XT hits mid 70C with Hotspot at ~90C. I'd expect the Toxic, with similar fam setting to do as well, if not better than, the card I have.

Then play it, leave everything factory and don't mess with it - I mean you do have warranty, let them worry if the thing stops working. If you forked over so much dough, just enjoy it.

I was expecting brilliant cooling with this card, so I'll just leave factory. That's the kind of temps I'd be happy with, but they just don't happen.

That's exactly what I am going to do.
