hi guys looking to get some feedback it's time for me to upgrade my system and i'm debating getting a Y510 with 750M sli or building a new system with 7790 crossfire.

looking to play some newer games like metro far cry and max payne but also lots of older games from hl2 to mass effect 3.

my main question is would the 750m sli be a good enough solution or will i be kicking myself over the performance

Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
New rig but with older midranged CFx cards? Why?

OTOH, 750M is slow too.

What are you goals here? What resolution would your monitor be? What is your budget for this new system? I just don't think 2 midrange cards is a good idea, ever quite frankly. A single more powerful card has less hassle overall.

No I'd make due with my old 19" LCD for now and upgrade later .... The world of monitors is a whole different topic and research

yes we can assume 1080P resolution for now and also this is the resolution of the Y510P

so the aim here for me really is to keep the budget under 1000 not including monitor and be able to play some of the newer games at the above resolution.

Well the laptop being a all in one solution and under 1k was very tempting..... And for all intents and purposes I'm starting from scratch
