first here is memtestCL basically memtest86 for your GPU: http://folding.stanford.edu/English/DownloadUtils
the card in question: HIS IceQ X H787QN2G2M Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2...
I recently bought a HIS Radeon 7870 and had to return the first one because it was giving me occasional desktop corruption which I thought was the RAM. I just got my second one and ran memtestCL again and got the same amount of errors on the same test.
I ran the program testing 2000mb of my vram (default is 128mb) and get errors on the random block test. During the time i was waiting for the replacement 7870 I had run the test on my 5850 (but only tested 1000mb cause it only has 1024) and it got zero errors even when it was overclocked to 945/1175mhz. If I down-clock the 7870's core to 750mhz and up the voltage to 1.3 the errors go away.
My question is can you guys run the test with the same parameters on your 7000 series cards and see if you get the same errors? I want to see if this is normal or if I should just return and keep my 5850 until their next series comes out.
To run the program with manual parameters find it with run and add 2000 (or just under max vram amt) 5 like this: C:\Users\****\Desktop\memtestCL-1.00-windows\memtestCL-1.00-windows\memtestCL.exe 2000 5
