Updated to windows 8.1 from 8 and got the black screen. I can open task manager and run things from there, such as uninstall and reinstall AMD drivers. But the AMD driver 14.4 (also tried 14.6) gets stuck half way through install and wont complete. I have also tried using the onboard graphics but that just goes straight to black screen aswell. I have run windows update and installed all updates including intel graphics driver. It doesn't seem to me like graphics drivers is the issue, especially as twice now I have started up windows right after a AMD driver reinstall (before it started to hang half way through install) and after a intell graphics driver update and no black screen for about 10 seconds, then back to black. I'm posting here to see if anyone knows of any other issue other than graphics drivers that mite be the problem. I'm ready to just reinstall windows and all my programs, that's how frustrated I am. This post is last ditch attempt to avoid starting again.
