8800GTX BIOS flash - assistance please

Been a long time since i flashed an Nv card, could use some help.

short verison, i have a fully working albatron 8800GTX (reference), with the original BIOS from when the cards first launched.

It works on every system i've tried except the one i actually need it to - a DFI X48 T2R motherboard.

the DFI board works with every other card i've tested (8600GT, GTX 280) so the slot/power isnt the issue. DFI board has latest BIOS.

i figure the 8800GTX might just need a BIOS update to make it compatible.

what tools do Nv flashers use these days? anyone reccomend the latest Nv bios for me? (dozens in the TPU database, with no idea which one i should use)

NvFlash via DOS. I'm sure you can find the command line, I am unsure of it exactly so I wont taint your info with the wrong command line

Not too sure of which bios to use.

ALSO FYI the bios needs to be a .rom for NV cards versus the .bin of ATI/AMD

You can use NVFlash for Windows and flash directly from Windows: http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/1824/NVFlash_5.95.0.1_for_Windows.html

That way you don't have to fool around with boot disks if you don't want to.

was going to try that - can it force flash for vendor mismatch?

in DOS it will with -4 leading the command line. Not sure on windows, thats why I recommended that way about it

nah just made it bootable on my gigabyte.

windows wont let me crossflash, but at least i learned its a generic Nvidia bios - so i'll just get the latest of those and use that.

edit: latest Nv has too high stock clocks, gunna nibitor it first.

hmmm.... the 'newest' nvidia BIOS ends in .35, while the one on the card is .37

gunna have a looksee if theres newer, or maybe the newer bios is whats causing the problems...

edit: bingo!

my card has: 60.80.08.00.37

60.80.08.00.35 seems really common... but on many other BIOS'es (particularly stock OC'd ones) i'm seeing 60.80.13.00.00

going from 08 to 13 has to mean some changes were made

another edit: bios flash was succesful, will have to wait and see if it works on the DFI board cause the owner of the board is afk atm

oh and the code to force the flash (ignoring the ID mismatch) was -6, not -4

The windows version supports every command that the DOS version does, AFAIK.

I've used it a few times to unlock GTX465s to GTX470s.
