a few questions about using ati tool

hi. i've just started doing some basic overclocking to squeeze a bit more of my graphics card (a radeon X1300). i downloaded ati tool and did some overclocking. i'm using version 0.26
a few questions:
when i load a profile, is that profile still used even if i exit ati tool?
how do i edit fan speeds and moniter the temperature?
is it best to only load the profile for gaming, and keep default for other times?
