Hi, yesterday i bought this card but there is some problems.
1st The mark is 3DMark06 is less then my old x1950pro only 4500points in 3d gaming the FPS are awful(in COD4 1280x1024 all max without AA its make under 30FPS is this normal?)
2nd I saw my card work in x1 mode how to change this one to work in pci express x16, i look in BIOS but there is not such a thing.
my system is:
MB GB P35-DS3P 1.1 F9(i try with older BIOS)
E4400
2x2Gb Adata
1x250GB Seagate SATAII
Fotron 400W PAF
I think the problem may be is come from my PSU but i have no other to test.

Your PSU is junk. No offense, just telling you like it is. It might not be your only problem though. I'll let the nVidia guys here help you with your card. One question I do have though is how in the world are you powering a PCI-E card with that PSU? Do you have your card's 6-pin PCI-E power cable plugged into the card?

What's your budget for a new PSU?

One tool you can use to see if your PSU is stable under load is SpeedFan. It can monitor voltages.

PS: I found your nzone thread :D

the psu is probably holding it back because its not getting enough power the card requires a min of a 425w psu

The PCIe link speed is the issue, the PSU thing isn't the issue.
Not sure why it runs at x1 speeds, might be a compatibility issue since it's a 2.0 card on a 1.1 board? Are there any bios settings or jumpers or whatever to affect this?

2.0 cards run fine on 1.1 boards. Jumper's a good idea, too. I bet it's in the BIOS though, since I don't think his 1950 moved a jumper...

That would be badass. An ATi card messing with a motherboard's speeds to stay in his system, trying to sabotage the nVidia card!

I need to go to bed. It's 5am...

yeah in my experiences GPU-Z does always show the correct pci-e speeds

hopefully theres just a bios setting for the speed.

Yeah, I'm going to guess there is a BIOS option to adjust PCI-e speed. It should be at x16. Make sure you have the card plugged into the right slot also. It should be in the blue slot on the board.

yeah u can switch that x1 to x16 from BIOS so do that..and maybe better PSU would be good but that should be enough to run the card better :wtf:

Switch from x1 to x16 is good idea but i didnt found this option in BIOS, yes card is in blue slot but i try in orange but its still nothing, I examine the MB but there is not any jumpers except CLR CMOS.Is it possibly that the problem can be in video card?

You might try hitting Ctrl+F1 while in the BIOS to reveal the hidden options, it might be in there.

However, it is possible that the card is bad, you might have to RMA it, or the card is just incompatible with the motherboard. Do you still have your old card you can put in and test?

make sure card is seated correctly
make sure ati drivers are gone
use cpu-z to monitor pci-e speed just to make sure it isnt gpu-z

maybe give us a pic of your bios screen

Butch,

Do you mind click on the User CP then clicking on Edit System Spec then fill out the information found there.
Thanks :toast:

Maybe a problem is in the card because i saw that there is 3 mising resistors over the PCI-E connector.

Yes, that is very likely the problem. If the card came like that, I would RMA it.

Because those resistors are missing, the card can't communicate on the 3rd and 4th lanes. So the motherboard limits the slot to PCI-E x1, because it assumes that if there is no communication on the 4th lane, then the card is a PCI-E x1 card.

you know not sure if this will work...however whats happening is the transistros are gone...so theirs no connection..now granted they probably regulate a small amount of voltage or they help the card read pci-e speed however if you cant rma dont have the money w/e you may be able to jury rig it to work by taking a pencil/circuit wrighter pen/solder and connect the 2 points were their missing and see if you can gain some functonality back id try a pencil / conductive ink first that way you can see if you can get it to work...until you can rma but solder is a slightely more perminent solution and that voids the rma
