I mounted a D-tek V1 cpu water block last week and mounted it upside down just because i need longer hose to mount it the proper side up....
What im asking is will it affect cooling?
and also how tight should i tighten up the block?
The manual says to tighten up till you hit the stoppers.... Hell at that i cringe that if i do it'll pull the screws through the mobo
thanks for any advice ppl :toast:

It won't affect cooling at all. Just keep tightening them in a criss-cross pattern. You don't have to go all the way down if you feel comfortable it's tight and even.

well id say im about 3/4 of the way to the stoppers now and have done what you recommended...Criss cross

Is there any difference from going to full stop or tightning just till 3/4 of the way?
Id think using good TP, it wouldn't matter:confused:

IF it's tight it's tight. The block is touching the proc, if you got say an 1/8th inch left, and there is less than a millimeter space between the proc and the block, tightening that extra 1/8th would only bow your mobo as the block just can't get much closer.

Those are obviously fake numbers, a millimeter space would be too big, but just using simple numbers.

you sir need one of these...

i still have a few for sale and they are also listed on sidewinders site.

if the OP wants one i'll let him have one cheap.

they have better flow than the stock tops.

lol my Heatkiller needs about 200 newton of pressure the manual states... its a spring type mount.... i had to use full force and 2 mm longer screws to get the retention to hold...^^

edit: my block is upside down too, it shouldnt be a problem for an impingement-type block, if youre using a monolithic chip like am i7 or the phenom.... multicore packages (core quad) might react other
