This could possibly be a worthy upgrade for the HD4770.

That is the same heatsink they put on 4670's and the like. The copper heatsink that comes with the 4770 is most likely better.

I don't think the cheapy HD4770 heat sink is solid copper. Probably another metal painted.
Copper is expensive and works great, that is why I don't think ATI went with it for the reference HD4770.

copper heatsink ? it`s painted AL . And the L2 pro is a better option if you plan to overclock .
We are talking about 5C in idle and 10C in full load ( stock core clock ) temperature decrease witch is good when you think that a L2PRO costs 10 euros ... good deal right ? When overclocking , it performs great , hitting only 60-62C full load with 850Mhz core .

Zalman VF1000 performs slightly better , but costs 2.5x more ... so stick to the L2

i've seen that heatsink stock on an 8800GT, or at least its evil twin (different fan, but heatsink looked the same)

GF 9600 and 9800GT from ECS have the L2PRO
Also Powercolor`s HD4730 and Sapphire HD 4670

Anyway :

4770 stock , 4770 with L2pro , 4770 with Zalman VF1000 ( Furmark full load )

Difference between low quality aluminum heatsinks and a really nice copper one

I wonder why they didn't test the 4770 voltage tweaked @940 core with the Zalman VF1000
