Benchmark Scores Faster than yours... I'd bet on it. :)
Ask asus... or maybe there is a cpu compatibility chart at the website.

This guy put a T7500 in his

But the main worry is going from SC to DC is going to add a lot more heat for that single heatpipe setup to deal with so you might find that it could possibly thermal throttle a lot under heavy load.

I'd rather put more RAM, 1GB is dismal.

yes I had 1 GB of ram, then I put 2 GB of Kingston ram from another laptop. now in total I have 3 GB of ram. it's enough? I don't know the frequency it goes, but the laptop works well

I was thinking of a T8300 or a T9300
3MB vs 6MB

Theoretically this should work. since the CPUs are supported by the chipset. one thing you dont know those is if Acer has locked out and blacklisted any parts their laptops didnt leave the factory with.

So while it might be compatible and supported - Acer's bios might not let you run it. your laptop will run hotter though most definitely.

T7500 should go smoothly, based on the video

I don't know the version I have of bios at the moment

and if you update the bios to the latest version will you solve the problem?

Yes if Acer adds hardware to the whitelist. No if they dont - Im not able to tell you. Acers around that age are usually ok though. Ive seen people upgrade with no problems when it comes to CPUs. though they could still be sketchy with wifi cards and graphics cards but your laptop doesnt support MXM GPUs so you dont have to worry about that part of it.

I know for sure that Core Duo T2500 or C2D T5250 works (did this on my friend's Extensa almost a decade ago, along with RAM/HDD upgrade). Just dropped in spares from my old Dell and it booted out-of-the-box.

Anything newer than that is going to be tricky. If you manage to find something like a T7400/T7500, then it should work on the latest BIOS. Also, there is a good chance that it'll start with any other 65nm alternative, but don't quote me on that. T8300 or T9300 will not work for sure. Don't even try.

i think that i update the bios before and i chose T7500 like the video. 4MB cache i think is good
i hope 3GB RAM is enough for example a win 10 32 bit or a linux ubuntu

Its always best to run two matched sets of ram for dual channel memory - it will make a lot of difference.

Older acer laptops are a nightmare to teardown. I tried to swap a mernom core for a higher end dual core mernom wouldn't boot at all back in the day.

That experience rubbed me the wrong way when it comes to acer laptops.

You cant put a 8100 in, your cpu is socket M, the 8100 is socket P

it's an old laptop and it's best choose i think -- 40$ vs 200$ for new laptop for my use that is internet and photo
