It has started. I always said that this will be the first thing people will get to work on the new Xbox 360. You can now use any harddrive you want (thus any size you wish) and connect it to your brand new Xbox 360 with USB. What do you need to do? Just format the drive the right way, thats all. The 20GB hard drive from Microsoft only lets you save content from Games, Xbox Live!, and music which was ripped from a CD thru your XBox 360. Instructions can be found here.
