Once again i own Vega 56. Last time there was THIS research. Just recently i have bought a video card in form of Vega 56 from a shop for the first time in ELEVEN years. The last time i bought a video card from a shop was in 2008, when i got HD3850... Ye... Just shows how horrible the aftermarket really is these days, when almost everyone just wants to get rid of their cards from mining rigs with almost no warranty left or people just sell video cards for absurd prices anyway.

So i figured out my core voltages for the best performance. It goes like this:

CLOCKS: DEFAULT until P6 at 1672 MHz and P7 at 1672 MHz
VOLTS: 800/825/850/875/900/1050/1050/ mV
MEMORY: 900 MHz at default voltage
FAN SPEEDS: adjusted manually so that the card would not go above 70 degrees C under stress testing.

I obviously plan to squeeze some more, but before that!!!

First question. Is it common to play with S1-S5 clock speeds or do people only adjust S6 and S7? I have lowered the voltage throughout the whole filed, but kept clocks at default until S6, S7.

Next question. What is this about that S6 and S7 voltages and speeds have to be identical? I recall knowing this a couple of years ago, but can not recall now...

Third question is memory related. I can clearly see that memory speed does not drop during the benchmark like core clocks, temperature related, so you would think that you don't need to undervolt the memory, right? However, increasing memory voltage to achieve greater HBM2 speeds tends to draw more W, right? So does anyone actually undervolt memory to save TDP?

Software talking abt best software, autodesk/unity3d/notepad yes notepad!!
Benchmark Scores theres nothing to brag abt potato, but it can run decent 30fps fullhd with good setting:)
im new for this uv scheme, not sure how capable of hmb2, will just post my current bench, hope it can be a hint
this is hbm first gen powercolor
IMG_20191109_224524.jpg

this is hbm 2nd gen gigabyte

IMG_20191216_121513.jpg

undervolt give me better temp&power consumption, and ofcourse better stable gameplay, altho i test uv with rx480 only since i need to do so becouse it overheat 94c till crash limit, with uv setup i can keep the card under 77c max, not sure for the ocing, i never touch any of clock nor memory:)

I wouldn't worry about HMB2 power consumption because it uses relatively not much. It will increase with OC that is. I keep mine at 1000/1000 and it is ok on my V64 :)
With the vcore i tried 1100 and I just keep it like this(i think it can go lower). It does work for me and the power consumption does't go above 260W and temps are low. That is without any increase in power limit. It's been a while since I played with this. The voltage for S6 and S7 (1100mv) is the same for both in my settings although I've set the core clock higher for S7.
I didn't try a lot and I didn't spend too much time fiddling with this but I'm sure I could do more tweaking.
Maybe when I get home and have some time and I won't forget I will post some stuff here for comparison :)

Undervolting Vega gives you the ability to have a a higher propensity of running the GPU at a higher sustained speed. Running the card at S6 and 7 with same voltage means that the card will not go under the speed set in S6 (as much) giving you a smoother experience. As far as HBM goes I would not bother because your card is well built if the memory runs at 945 all the time. The most anyone I know has gotten out of HBM on Vega is 1100 but that was with a full waterblock. The best thing to do in conjunction with undervolting is increase the power limit by 25-50%.

If I'm not mistaken thread creator says that p6/p7 are the same freq?
AFAIK this is something that is wrong and shouldn't be done. raise p7 for a few mhz or lower p6.
these are my last results with vega64 bios on my card:

and these were my last stable settings using default bios:

I'm a bit disappointed in results cos I didn't get any more performance using v64 bios. test/benches are more or less equal with these 2 settings from above.

You temps are pretty high. What model do you have exactly?
I wouldn't bother with the HBM. It will max out at 1050 anyway unless some extreme cooling.

you can see the max temps on the first pic. that's under load in DOX. room 20-23C.
I don't bother with GPU freq any more cos whatever I do I can't go much higher on air. I was thinking of getting morpheus but I gave up for now. too much investement for maybe very small gain and big risk of messing something up. warranty afcors also goes out.
model is MSI Radeon RX Vega 56 Air Boost 8G OC (samsung mem).

It says 84c that is a lot. My GPU never hits that temp. Never goes above 70 actually. Although I didn't go with the power limit increase by 50%. I just kept it at 0. What I did was the undervolting the core to 1100. Tried 1050 as well but For some reason it wasn't as good as I imagined. Maybe something between 1050 and 1100 would do. I need to try it out.
BTW I'm on air cooled Vega64 as well. I think your chassis airflow could be better. It improved my card's temps when I installed few fans in the case.

your talking about hot spot. gpu/hbm/vrms are much lower and AFAIK very much inside safe limits. hotspot starts throttling at 95c AFAIK.
my airflow in the case is actually very good cos during testing everything is on max (you can see 4 fan speeds in the v64 pic (white)) including gpu card fan (2x140 front intake, 1x120 side intake, 1x140 top output, 1x120 back output).

OK. So that is a hot spot. Can you post your temps for the chip? I must admit that my hot spot sometimes reaches more than that of yours. I changed thermal pads on my card some time ago. I thought I should revisit it again since I think I must have forgotten about something. Although I had a bad airflow back then and now it is way better so maybe I should look into the temps again. You definitely have good airflow since your hot spot is 84c. My reached 100 but only when crazily OC'ed.

Yeah I got it sorry. I'm doing several things and go carried away. Your temps are pretty low. I really need to look over my graphics cause I'm sure now I can do better with the temps and stuff.

take into consideration that my gpu fan is almost at the max and this is something that most people don't like cos it's like boing 747 going off LOL.
this is when I bench/test. while playing it doesn't go that high at least not in GTA5 that I play currently and use freesync + chill (60-90fps limit).

I've noticed something that i never did before. I lowered the HBM2 voltage by 50 mV, and now the memory would boost itself to 900 MHz, which it never did before! What a nice surprise! Vega 56 just keeps amazing me! I've also noticed in the new benchmarks that a properly undervolted Vega 56 will beat RX 5600XT no problem.
