paintshop pro, the gimp, photoshop elements

in my opinion photoshop is by far the best, maybe because i'm used to it

paint.net is good.

i've used photoshop in my computer grafix class @ school, its great, but i dont want to pay for it atm. which one of the 3 alternatives would you say is the best?

I like most, Love Photoshop. It is what I use at work and at home. That being said, I have also tested many of the others that are freeware to give friends advice on alternates for photo retouching or some creative work. I have found GIMP to be a great alternative. Maybe not the best GUI, but still manageable. Lots of filters and similar features to Photoshop. I know Adobe is working on the online version of Photoshop Elements. This could be a good choice, but as of yet I have not had any experience with it or know when it is to be made available. I would recommend GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/)

why dont you try each and find out which suits you best?

just tried gimp, cant hardly navigate through it, had so much trouble resizing something so simple. im learning photoshop basics @ school and a completely different program like gimp is like....

Using Corel Paint Shop Pro here.
For the same reason W1zz mentioned: got used to it (since Draw / Photo Paint > ~ 10 yrs)

paint.net is good.

i have install it just for testing and after that i have forgot photoshop

it is free it is fast and it is much more nice from any other except photoshop but it has many many likeness with photoshop it haves most of its plug in and a lot of same tools

I used to play around with GIMP and it was pretty good for a free application.
