Advice on my new build

3 1tb samsung sata3.0 hd $271
1 146gb raptor 10000rpm $120
ultra full tower case $50
total build so far----------------------
$727 after microsoft cash back via ebay

my problem is what video card can I use without going over 500w
I am looking at the 4850, 4870, 4670, 9500gt, 9600gt

will be using (I know I know) vista home 64 ultra

I will aslo be adding 3 120mm fans, and another 4gb soon.

I'd say a 4870 would be the best but you are going to have to get a 600 watt psu at least because 500 might not be enough for any of those cards apart from the 9500GT if your overclocking anyway.

Lose that trash power supply, you really do not want to have that on your new quad and video card

If you're going to get all of that, please, please... don't get the Ultra X-Connect 500 watt. I have one and it won't be powerful enough for what you're building. If you're going to spend 271 dollars on hard drives, you can afford 90-110 dollars for a reliable PSU. I've got the PCP&C Silencer 610, and I think it's at $100 right now. There's also a Corsair 750watt that's around that price as well.

i have ran many cheapo psu's and trust me you will be vervous every day you see your computer on hoping and praying to God it stays on and doesn't fry itself.

get a good psu.

Corsair TX650w if you want to run single cards for ever. TX750w if you want to crossfire eventually. Cool looking? no, but stable and affordable.

4850 or 4870 depending on ur money. If you really want to stick to quad core for multimedia + gaming or else go dual core (my suggestion on dual core is a e7400) Switch PSU, Ultra X is not such a good brand. Get a HX620.

I'd disagree about getting a dualie since that quad will clock fairly well and above 3ghz there is pretty much no difference in fps in my experience.
