Alan Wake Hitting Xbox 360 First, PC Later?

It's beginning to look as if Remedy's long-awaited "psychological action thriller" Alan Wake will debut first on Xbox 360 and the promised PC edition will follow at a later date.

"We're focusing all our efforts on the 360 version and will be making comments in regards to the PC at a later in time," Remedy rep Markus wrote on the studio's boards.

Publisher Microsoft revealed a "spring 2010" release for the Xbox 360 edition during E3, but made no mention of the PC version at that time. Alan Wake was originally announced for PC and console in 2005, though an "official" release window was not provided until recently. We're checking in with Microsoft for more details, and will update accordingly.

I underlined the problem. Microsoft's priority in the gaming industry is to make sure the Xbox survives above all. Windows, as a gaming platform, may have to die to fulfill that objective. Microsoft is, in effect, PC game's worst enemy.

Agreed. Alan Wake could be the "console seller" just like Gran Turismo 5 is for PS3. MS have to play this strategic trick otherwise the xbox will sink under PS3's superiority.
