Alan Wake II System Requirements Released, Steep RT Requirements Due to Path Tracing

And the game is also perma exclusive to the egs, to rub salt on the wound I guess
That upsets me way more than the system requirements do - which we should all know that will change with the final version of the game.

Man, CONTROL ran amazingly, with or without RT, and looked great to boot, and even if you struggled to run the game the games low settings still look outstanding.

I imagine that the low settings will still look great, but as for the rest, what the fuck is this? You're telling me that someone with a 3080 class gpu won't be able to play at a native 1440p60? I genuinely feel betrayed by remedy, fucks sake man. And the game is also perma exclusive to the egs, to rub salt on the wound I guess
Well F#@# this game then EGS, no

Makes me think of immortals of aveum, it had pretty high system requirements too. Then I saw it running on a 1060 just fine. Well okay it was 30 - 40 fps but that was still more than I was expecting.

1080p medium needs DLSS to reach 60FPS ..
we reached the loony bin status - thank you all the mouth pieces that preached and praised the upscaling cult :kookoo:

I detest all requirements specifying required hardware with upscaling enabled ONLY.
These used to be junk aside from a quick glance of what performance you approx need, but you're best of just binning it and checking a benchmark.

And why the fuck do the CPU requirements change if resolution/quality change?
The CPU dictates in the vast majority of cases how much fps you can expect (notable exception for RT), the fact that the CPU scaling has nothing to do with the target fps makes me think the CPU requirements are total BS.
/rant

Nvidia sold us this RT, Upscaled future. Outside a few exceptions its mostly harmed PC gaming, not improved it IMO

Exactly! That's why there's no reason to be upset about the system requirements of a game that isn't even out, yet. I'm pretty sure a lot will change until release.

So I should be able to run it at medium 1440p 30 or 1080p 60fps, my 2070 Super should be better than a 3060...

It seems to be wrong information, the gap between 3060 and 3070 is big.... and where is the 3080 or the 1440p at 60fps? yet they prefer 4k?...??

Nothing here makes sense, no wonder people in r/nvidia are roasting them to hell
The whole thing is a fabrication, even Nvidia 4000 owners apparently lack this level of cognitive dissonance.

Idiocy. All of it

Behold, a voice of wisdom appears in the darkness created by Nvidia.

Unfortunately, I don't see a way out of this wave of terrible games... It's time to ignore gaming for a while IMHO.

The massive financial backlash will stop it. Shit in shit out. Its that simple. Lucky for us there are WAY too many games being made. Less is likely more

Well, that's what you get when the industry and hordes of gamers push and praise upscaling. Lazy engines and a lack of optimizations in nearly every title.

What if the dev was paid to enforce RT?

You cannot explain to me that games without RT are not possible.

I mean...it is, hence RT is a separate section in the requirements chart.

Path tracing will continue to be "optional" until we have a GPU that is at least twice as powerful as a 4090.
Sure, you can enable it, but with the 4080 delivering a 30fps experience using DLSS performance (effectively a 1080p internal render resolution) it's quite clear that fully raytracing a scene is just too damn expensive on the technology we have (at eye-watering cost).

95%+ enthusiast gamers willing to spend >$500 on a GPU alone do not want to replace their investment with a high-end 40-series card, and given that people who trusted Nvidia with their money for 30-series cards are already feeling betrayed by the lack of feature support, I'm suggesting this will be another tech demo feature that few, if any, actually bother using.

All this negativity about the "system requirements" of a game that isn't even out yet is astonishing! Not that playing at 4K with RT ultra was a requirement to enjoy it anyway.

How many times have we seen one system being recommended by the developer, and the game running just fine on another system with half the computing power?

BULLSHIT !! unless the game is optimised with their asses as all games lately just to push us to use dlss and fsr shit !!

Right?! Can we at least see how it runs before we get our pitchforks?

Even if the requirements are legit, it's not going to turn into Superman 64 just because you disable path tracing.

Yeah, let's just ignore the part where you need a 3070 to run the game at 720p 60fps with medium settings with RT off (1080p DLSS performance is native 720p), or a 4070 for 1080p 60fps at high settings with RT off (4K DLSS performance is native 1080p)

Just because we are one step above Superman 64 don't mean we need to be that close to it, Cyberpunk is already a dolled up N64 game mechanically.

Why am I getting flashbacks to PhysX, Arkham Knight, hair works, etc?
