They will work in some am2+ boards "support". But will they work in all?

The AM2+ board has to have BIOS and possibly independent power plane support. Will they work in all? No.

AM2+ and AM3 boards are same thing from electrical standpoint except first use DDR2 memory and latter DDR3. There are some differences in HT speed on AM3 Phenom II from their 940BE/920 AM2+ older siblings that have disabled (non-working) DC DDR3 controller on die also.

Anyway, AM3 uP shold even work in AM2+ mobo if it's BIOS support first Phenom II even if you blindly put some newer AM3 processor w/o latest BIOS upgrade cause they're all same revision (C2) afaik, and fully functional on AM2+ boards

An AM3 CPU should work in any AM2+ mobo as long as you have a BIOS update that allows for the AM3 CPU to work in the AM2+ mobo. The AM3 has 2 less pins but is very similar to AM2+. Without the BIOS update, you are gambling with your investment.
