I would drop every $$$ you can into a gpu upgrade.

Specifically for 4k gaming spending any extra money on a CPU upgrade over a 1700 would be a waste.
Unless gaining a whopping 1-2% at 4k for $200-330 sounds like a good time.

I’ve had 1700X paired with a RTX 2070 and it ran great. Never any games I couldn’t play. I couldn’t comment on the 5700XT as mine hasn’t worked right but if yours is functioning right you should be fine. 1440P is a great res for both the CPU and GPU should be able to drive any game above 60FPS

Easily! That's actually a very good combo!
+1

you could prolly get it to 3.8 and tweak the rams for a few % boost - but that is a great combo, well balanced.

Just because Zen 2 was released dosnt all of a sudden make your 1700 bad, the 1700 is still a capable cpu, more than enough for a 5700xt.
I agree!
A better GPU is making all the difference against a better CPU. Keep that 1700 and buy all the GPU you can afford.

What I gleaned from this video is you should really buy a 3600 with a 2080 super :D.
