AMD, 7nm Instinct Vega and Explicit Multi-GPU.

With the new 7nm AMD Instinct cards pulling clocks rumored to be as high as 2025mhz and HBM AT 1200Mhz/1,229Gbs, I find myself saddened that we'll most likely have to wait until Navi to see 7nm gaming cards.

But then I started wondering, specifically with DirectX 12 games that have explicit multi-GPU support, would it be possible (assuming one didn't care about cost efficacy) to add a 7nm Instinct Vega to an existing system and significantly boost the performance while outputting the video signal through the original GPU?

Has anyone tried this with other deep learning cards?

I think you should start looking at which games actually have explicit mGPU support

I'd be surprised if you need more than one hand to count them

That's not really in question. I realize there aren't that many (as yet) that actually utilize it. I'm just curious if the setup would work for those that do.

I can only think of one atm >>>> "Ashes of the singularity"
then i'm not heavily into gaming

I think there's more than one ,a forza has it ,not sure which and a tomb raider ,not sure which.
Shame really because two 580s do very well in timespy three makes 4k a sinch but three of any such card used well does to be fair.
I think direct X and the windows platform needs some massive adjustments with regards to scheduling and hardware utilisation and might just get it since exotic accelerators are becoming more widespread.
As ever it may take some time.
