Okay, so i heard that for the AM2+ socket mobos, if we go over 2 DIMMs(DDR2), i.e, use both the dual channels, then we cant overclock the memory to 1066 and it needs to be at 800MHz.

But which one will be more effictive and have better performance?
a. 4X2GB sticks in each slot running at 800MHz
b. 2X4GB sticks in dual channel mode OC'ed?

since i dont wish to exceed 8GB, i have these two options open.

Also the same question goes for DDR3.

THANKS! :respect:

Not true, you need to increase the CPU/NB voltage (internal memory controller) to acheive those speeds with four sticks. For both DDR2 and DDR3, so do whatever option you want.

yup up the CPU / NB a tad and presto ram will work just fine. at rated speeds with all DIMMs filled

my NB is always at 2400MHz. you think it will work?

Yes, it will work. AMD advised lower speeds for populating all DIMM slots based on stock voltage configs. never had any issues, really, running 4 sticks on AM2+/AM3, ever.
