As a little weekend treat AMD has rolled out a new build of the Catalyst 13.11 graphics drivers, the Beta9.4. This release improves CrossFire scaling in Call of Duty: Ghosts multiplayer and is claimed to 'maybe' fix the intermittent black screens or display loss observed on some Radeon R9 290X and R9 290 cards. The mobile-friendly version of the driver comes with Enduro profiles for XCOM: Enemy Unknown and Need for Speed Rivals.

The Catalyst 13.11 Beta9.4 is available for Windows 8.1/8/7 and features support for the Radeon R9, R7, HD 7000, HD 6000 and HD 5000 Series cards.

Oh boy! Another new beta. :D

Will try as soon as I get home.

Ummm, so the performance tab is now missing? Did AMD do away with overdrive? I can no longer oc my 290x with CCC. What gives?

After clean install of 9.4 Beta. I can finally move up from 1275mhz memory clock. Before this driver i would get red or black screen for anything above 1275mhz particularly in Crysis 3,BF4,FC3! Now testing the card with 1150 Core and 1450-1500Mhz memory. Will post if Red screen appears.

you must enable gpu overdrive everytime u do a fresh install of amd driver. go to CCC>performance>Amd overdrive>accept.

Are you oc'ing in CCC? Weird, the performance tab is no longer in my 9.4beta.

that's odd :/ I have the tab.
I re-downloaded the drivers, did another clean install to see if perhaps the first install was borked. Same results. Then I did another clean install, this time selecting express install (the previous 2 times I had unchecked the gaming evolved app in custom install) to see if maybe the performance tab was now somehow included with the gaming evolved app. Still no performance tab. Then went back to the 9.2beta drivers and boom the performance tab is back. Perhaps this is an issue with the 290 series cards?

After you do the uninstall, go into your AppData folder located in My Documents (you may have to unhide hidden folders first) then delete any AMD/ATi folders in the Roaming and Local folders.

If that doesn't do it, you could always try running the trial of Driver Fusion to clean the AMD drivers.

Thanks but I've always used AMD Uninstall Utility before I install any new drivers. http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=373750

Use "Driver Sweeper" to remove all previous files.

Interesting. Used Display Drive Uninstaller that I got at Guru3D, and I have no performance tab either.

Checking AppData folder. Never had to do that before.

UPDATE:

Tried reinstalling several times, and removed AppData folders for ATI and AMD. Nothing worked.

Back to beta 9.2 and Performance tab has returned.

No one else seeing this?

Slight improvement in memory overclocking, the issue isn't gone though. I managed to OC the memory up to 1375Mhz without any crashes. Clocks higher than 1375 end up in black screen. It could be my card though cause GPUZ ASIC quality is 70.3%, any ideas what that % means?

What happened to the Vista support? Did it stop?

Avoid these drivers for now. I updated from 9.2 to these and while I do have a performance panel, it does not function in any way. You can enter any values you want, but they will simply be discarded - which is probably why someone in the first posts could suddenly overclock his memory by a lot more.

I'll try to do a clean install, but judging from above posts, it'll most likely end in a revert to 9.2.

EDIT: It was a no go. Version 9.4 overdrive panel is definitely defective. They broke something when they changed memory overclock from percentages to actual values.

Thanks for the info. I know it's a beta, but seems like just a little extra testing would have been helpful.

I have no problems with those drivers or with the CCC...

And you're able to both enable and disable overdrive? You're able change GPU, memory and fan speed?

The 9.4 drivers and CCC seems to otherwise work fine if you aren't overclocking.

same here, performance tab gone after update.
but good thing is bf4 running crossfire much effective now compare to 80fps > 150 fps (290x x2)
also never encountered black screen, game crash after update. unlike before massive BSOD, Running stock btw.

These drivers are def an improvement for COD:GHOST however i'm stilling getting flickering and some choppiness. There is also a new issue where my mouse jumps around in this game. Aside from that everything else i'm playing works great.

I'm also having no issues with the overdrive and cfx panels as noted by others. I did a clean install manually removing reg keys and directories, performed a reboot ran driversweeper and ghostbuster, reboot one more time and install. Other than the fact that COD isn't completely fixed which is bumbing me out, the drivers worked great here.

It looks like the common denominator for AMD OverDrive not working and/or performance panel is missing, is the R9 290 series. I guess the beta drivers are fine if you aren't using R9 290 or R9 290X.

Working fine here.
