AMD FX 8350 Temperature Issues...

CPU:- AMD FX - 8350 VISHERA 32nm tech (with stock fan )
MOTHERBOARD:- GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY GA-78LMT-USB3 (SOCKET M2)
GRAPHICS :- GIGABYTE NVIDIA GTX 750 TI
STORAGE :- SEAGATE ST500DM002-1BD142 ATA DEVICE
RAM:- Corsair CMZ4GX3M1A1600C9 Vengeance 4GB Single Module DDR3
PSU:- ANTEC VP550P

i am worried about the temperatures of my pc,in the amd over drive the thermal margin goes minus while on load is it normal or dangerous to my pc..??

You would be better of changing the stock CPU cooler for an aftermarket unit.
Damage will most likely occur to the Motherboard before the CPU if you allow it to constantly run hot.

I would say +1 to a Hyper 212 EVO if thats available.

But that motherboard techinically can run the FX 8350, but it only has a 4+1 power phase design, and the 760G isn't exactly the best chipset. That may be the reason for the thermal issues.

As long as you have some good airflow in the case I would not worry about changing the motherboard. Just do not overclock the CPU and buy the Hyper 212 (Or similar) and you will be fine because it will move more air over your components.

Its not the best motherboard, but it definitely says it will support the 125watt TDP chips (IE FX 8XXX) and I have seen people use them just fine.

you may have wrong read sensor, just run your pc for a while and touch the heatsink just to check how hot your processor

what about your airflow, is that enough to dissipate the heat?

The thermal margin in AMD Overdrive for the FX 8350 is 70C. So if the thermal margin shows 10 then you are at 60C. I believe it changes color when you go over this point, I know blue is under. Alternatively you can use a program like hwmonitor to give you real temp instead of margin. Hopefully this helps some, since you said it was showing minus, I would assume you are in the clear.

Put a fan on the VRM heatsink and get a Hyper 212 for the CPU.

no ... get an aftermarket cooler, for example Coolermaster Hyper212 EVO, a cheap AIO like corsair H70 or Thermaltake Water3.0 performer can actually help,

Actually as so many have said, airflow is something important for this topic,
Which case do you have?
fan setup on it?
how much can you spend on new components such as case fans, CPU cooler and thermalpaste?

Its an old case mates and there are no fans either and I am getting some smell aftr some while nw so shutting down immediately and recently I got a problem with my psu so I baught an antec psu den I taught it would be solved but again even though the temperatures are high I don't know y and I won't keep load much ...

It's really simple and I am surprised people here recommend you to buy a better cooler. Only JBorg got it right.

The reason your PC smells funny, and all the other issues you name are because of the motherboard with this processor. YES, the spec sheet will say it runs an FX 8350 but it really isn't built for that. The power delivery is far below what you'd want for an FX, 4+1 power phases is asking for trouble and you just had your first symptoms. Basically your motherboard VRMs are cooking.

Change motherboard NOW and do not use it any more. Get a 990FX chipset and at least 6+1 power design board, or replace the whole CPU/mobo combo with something that works well (read: Intel) as you are going to be replacing parts in any case.

After that you can start worrying about overclocks, aftermarket cooling and case fans. Right now you have a ticking timebomb in your case.

A decent short term solution would be to downclock your chip to 3.2-3.6 Ghz to keep the heat down. After that, I agree with the others... a better case, better air flow, and a better cooler are needed.... at a minimum.

Hi Harish88,

The Thermal Margin in AMD Overdrive is the difference between your CPU temp and 70°C. If the CPU is above 70°C, the margin will show as a negative number. If it's pushing above 70 you will definitely want to do something about that.

First and easiest solution is to disable any overclock. If you don't have the CPU overclocked, then you can undervolt it.

Here is the process to undervolt on your specific motherboard BIOS,

Default voltage for your FX-8350 should be 1.390V or 1.400V. You can check by verifying your own "Normal CPU Vcore" value as you see in the screenshot above. By lowering the voltage down an additional 0.050V, you should shave around 3-4°C off your load temps easily. As long as you're not gaming 24/7, running it a few degrees under the thermal threshold will not do any harm.

...Or just buy an inexpensive cooler like this one for $16 after rebate. It will not require removal of your motherboard and uses the same AM3 mounting clip the stock cooler does. Just be aware that because of the convenience, you will only be able to mount the fan pointing up or down. More robust coolers like this one for $23 can be pointed backwards but do require removing your motherboard to install the backplate. (edit: unless your case has a cut-out behind the CPU socket to facilitate easy cooler swaps.)
