Ive recently put in a amd fx 8370 and my temps are hiting 60 to 67 with in minutes i have good air flow

Check what volts its pulling and reseat the heatsink as first port of calls checks

Welcome, can you describe a little more about what you are doing this happens (are you at the desktop, etc.) I know that fx series processors had temperature sensor issues.

When i am at the desktop the temp stays around 34-40 but as soon as i play a game it jumps to 60+ and i use easytune and msi afterburner to see temps

1. Are you talking Celsius or Fahrenheit?
2. Are you Overclocked?
3. Is the CPU Fan fully seated and did you use enough thermal paste?

System info would be extremely helpful, post the complete specs for your system please and we'll take it from there.

I'll add that some 8370's run hot compared to other models except for the 9xxx series.
I have an 8370 myself and it gets hot like yours so I really don't run it - Even my 9590 tuned properly seems to be capable of running a little cooler at the same speed (5.0) and doesn't need as much voltage to get there like the 8370 does. Based on the difference between all FX chips I have the newest ones are the worst with the oldest ones being best, backwards from what you'd expect but it's been documented as such in other places too.

I believe AMD's binning with older ones wasn't as strict based on stock speed as the newer ones with the best cores out of these used as 9xxx chips.
Even my quad cores act this way, I have a really old 4300 that clocks way better, runs cooler and with less voltage OC'ed than the 4350 I picked up new last year.

I got it to stay around 55-60c is that still to hot i used articsilver 5 past and i have a master cooler hyper 212

You need to provide complete system specs so that we can help you.

Under Gaming and my cpu being heavy OC it touches around 55.

Worst case is 70-75 for testing with blender.

Ive got a gigabyte 78lmt usb3 motherbord
Amd fx8370 coolmaster 212 and msi gtx 1060 3gb gaming x and 16 gb ram g skill ares My cpu is not oc

Sounds like normal temps to me.

Yeah that mobo just barely cuts the mustard for that cpu for phases (needs active direct cooling) the evo cooler, has gotten long in the tooth. You may want to pull the cooler off and ensure there is no plastic strip on the base, clean cpu and heatsink off and reapply thermal compound. Ensure you have clean cable routing, nothing obstructing the fans. Make sure the fans flow path are correct, front and bottom are intake, top and back are exhaust. The biggest factor in any system running cool is the ambient temperature, aka room temperature, the cooler the air the cooler the system is overall.

1.33750 is pretty default for that cpu, have you set anything in the bios/uefi of the motherboard?

I pull my cpu out and reapplied thermal paste earlier today another question does thermal paste go bad ? I have not done anything in bios

Go into the Bios, disable the Turbo Boost, set the clock speed manually to 4.3GHz and lower the voltage until your system is stable. Default voltage settings for the FX CPUs are set very conservative. Usually you can set them much lower.

My old FX 8320 was using 1.425V @ 3.5 GHz by default. I set it manually to 1.225V @ 3.8GHz which lowered the temperatur by round about 8 degrees.

If the temperatures do not get better then I would suggest a new cooler or lower clocks in combination with the voltage below 4.3GHz.

My cpu voltage moves from 1.3 to 1.4 and i reseat my heatsink and used artic silver 5 got the temp down to 55-63
If thats the stock heat sink and fan your fine there then.

Interesting assistance.
With that cooler it should be lower try what Caelestis suggests.

FX CPUs have 2 distinct temperatures , Socket/CPU and Package/Core.

If those temps are for CPU/Socket then it's fine , if those are Core temperatures they seem a tad high in my opinion considering you are at stock clocks.

Also put a fan on the VRM heatsink , use the stock fan for example.

EDIT : I have a 6300 at 1.45V and 4.5 Ghz and it barley touches 60C under load with the fan at 1300RPM. It's a different CPU and cooler of course but still.

I've got an FX-8320 under a Hyper 212 in my office right now, and I'll say those temps are about right for stock. Especially considering the 8370 is clocked higher than my 8320.

Honestly, the Hyper 212 is adequate for an 8-core FX, and your temps are certainly acceptable, but it does start to show its weakness with these high TDP 8-core chips. But at least it is better than the stock cooler...

does thermal paste go bad ?
No, but it does dry out a bit and get harder to use. That can also cause too much TIM to stay between the CPU and cooler, which makes cooling performance worse. You do need to watch your temps over time because TIM does need to be replaced from time to time, but that's normally years down the road.
