I was wondering if anyone had heard this or not, but I read somewhere that a future AMD chip will be able to handle 2 threads per core, just as the i7 does - is this a result of the settlement between Intel and AMD?

Completely different technology, so no.

i doubt its due to the settlement this probably just evolution of design just as amd had an internal memory controller for years and intell finally stepped up and did the same thing seeing as how hyper threading is as of now helping greatly in multi threaded enviorments AMD probably cant sit there and just do nothing so i wouldnt be surprised if they had there own version of it

think about it

hyper transport on an amd proc is alot like quick path in an i7
both now have IMCs (internal memory controller)
intell has hyper threading and amd will probably follow suit eventually and have it as well

kinda makes me wonder how a 6core thuban from amd if it had a form of hyperthreading so to speak how would it stack up against intell hmmm....

I wish I had the link to the story I read this in =( It was a couple weeks ago and it just occurred to me that other people might know more about it.

So certainly not hyperthreading... Interesting.

Real men use real cores, no? :p
