AMD Posts Catalyst 13.8 Beta, Fixes CrossFire Frame Latency

That's strange but glad you figured it out. Good to know for all of us with crossfire systems in case we run into it too :)
Indeed I'm going to have a look at mine as I said I get something similar now and again.
I had noticed changes in windows display manager don't always sit well with catalyst but I had put it down to my odd setup.
Worth looking into

Tested it, have it, love it.

I'll be swapping my primary 7950 with another 7950 since I think mine is broken (Windows locks up after a few minutes, temps are fine, and it starts throttling to 500MHz in games when the bottom 7970 is fine before locking up the PC). I'll let you guys know if the different card fixes this (the card was problematic before in other machines, I think). :)

I understand that this patch is only for single monitor setup for up to 1200P but has anyone had any experience with the drivers at 5760x1080?

Works for 1440p too. Eyefinity, no.

Never thought of this till now.
Should we be installing the latest AMD/ATI Catalyst Application Profiles (CAP)

No, they're included in the driver package. You only really need to install them if they are newer than the driver. With WHQL's, they'll usually say somewhere if you need the CAP or not.

Replacement 7950 installed and it doesn't throttle, but Tomb Raider still crashes to desktop after about 5 minutes with CFX enabled. At the least it gets decent FPS (100-120).

Thats weird, I was playing TR last night for over an hour with no issues :wtf:

Anything overclocked, or under volted?

This trouble with Tomb Raider makes me want to install and give the game a go, see if I have any trouble with crossfire.... Maybe I will ;)

Love the avatar man!

TR is a sweet frickin game bro! you wont regret it, and lock the v-sync on. And be stunned on the quality!

And eyes forward man haha

Thanks ;)

I'm downloading it now :). I hope it runs well for me, at least as well as FC3 has been with this new driver. I know this beta driver isn't perfect, but FC3 is sooo much better than it used to be, so let's hope TR sees the same smoothness. I'll report back tomorrow.

These drivers are noticeably way better in 3DMark 11

What's so great about TR? Am I missing something or is it a rather pointless game?

Not sure I take your meaning. TR was mentioned previously as some have issues with CFX, other don't have it, yet it has been considered to be a good game regardless. Hearing of these issues made me want to try it out, since I have it but have never installed it.

And I know you posted something FF, yet it seems to have vanished ;)
There it is

I disabled CFX in CCC and my computer stopped freezing even though I loaded both GPUs down with F@H. I'm going to try reinstalling the drivers, and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll try Windows 8.1 as my Windows 7 install has become swiss cheese with all the BSODs I got from finding overclocks. :wtf:

That just may be the problem is all the BSOD's

Id do a clean install and load the new driver up.. windows 8.1 you might be asking for more trouble.
You kinda answered your own comment, Id go for W7 and give it a go.

finally, that micro-stuttering in apu crossfired laptops will be gone. quite an annoying thing it was.

I'd rather they work on it producing consistent results (meaning it actually works in some games).

Lol, its better then consistent.. It like having new gpu's..

Amd hit the nail on the head with this driver. But granted it's a new code they wrote and it's just going to get better from here on.

I meant for the APU + GPU crossfire thing. Because in some games it's more than useless, frameratewise.

Loading Win7 off a stick and using a spare 250GB drive. Crossing my fingers...

EDIT: Still locks up on clean Win7, so one of my cards or the LEPA G900 PSU is flaking out. This really effing sucks, as all I wanted was CFX and now I have parts I've had running for quite a while misbehaving badly. More troubleshooting later...

Better late than never, gg AMD. We need this whql-grade ready for Radeon 9990.

does it work on my CF 6850 ???

For what i read people are having good experiences with then and the 5 and 6 series also. I am installing them right now to my Cf'd 7850 rig.
